No excuses today's game. One of the worst games ever. It's an absolute joke how he can even say during the interview "this could have been one of our best wins of the year".

There is zero value in engaging with RMB.

There is extraordinary value in considering the logical entailments of certain positions, especially when one of them contradicts another position we might hold. That’s how we eliminate wrong ideas, by resolving our internal contradictions. There’s zero value in engaging with anyone who doesn’t value that.

Well it could have been, then they blew it and it became their worst loss of the year.

Actually that's not even true, if they had won it would have been another game where they got outworked and outplayed. Where they looked completely unprepared to play the game.

How is it not conceivable that we want benning fired for building a cap strapped; middle age; playoff bubble (8-12) team and still think that Travis greens coaching is a detriment to the team. I don’t like the way the team has collapsed so often or just plain not shown up.

That explanation doesn’t account for the roster’s ability to compete favourably against elite teams as much as they have and look every bit like a team that could make the playoffs. If the roster can show that level of play and have that level of success one or both of the GM and HC gets credit. So you can’t implicate Travis Green without exonerating Benning unless you say the Canucks aren’t even at least a bubble playoff team which most would not.

I'd say if there's overlap between people that want to fire Green and people that want to fire Benning there is no contradiction. You're creating a false dichotomy.

Critics of the team btw would say that the Canucks would eventually regress to the mean after having a soft starting schedule, and that their recent struggles is evidence of that.

If one believes the Canucks roster would eventually regress anyway because it was poorly built then it makes no sense to blame the coach for the regression.

Blaming the coach means you think the roster could have better results than it has been getting. This puts one in the position of affirming that Benning built a playoff caliber roster. There’s no way around it.

I still don't get why we can't just blame both?

If the coaching staff doesn't reinvent their systems they're gonna be fired before christmas,
They are losing patience of fans at a really rapid pace.

Green’s average at best. He’s ok for now but not good enough to take them to elite contender level. Getting Miller, Myers, Ferland and Benn (all coming from teams with 90+ points) is a big upgrade. The addition of rookie sensation Q. Hughes is a huge bonus. The departure of Granlund, Gudbranson, and Pouliot is addition by subtraction. Green has good players, it’s on him to create chemistry and synergy and to make the right adjustments quickly. The Oilers have 2 superstars and 2 good players, the rest of the team is trash and Tippet’s getting the most out of them. It’s on Green to get the most out of this team. Let’s see how the season plays out, if the Canucks miss the playoffs by more than a few points Green’s days as head coach are likely done.

Hiding under WTG's bed...
I see a team Everyone thought was going to be in the race for a lottery not in a lottery spot. Is the team good then.
You have to be on a whole different level of bad to be out of a realistic chance out of a playoff spot at this point in the season.

The Torts disaster season team was still in a playoff spot in either February or March that season.
