Let's just post the major quakes, probably will mean 7+ and loss of life.

My usual cutoff for caring is over a 6 depending on where it is. Wiki gives the 1989 Loma Prieta quake a 6.9. We had a 5.5 in the early 80's that shook things pretty good here and caused quite a bit of damage. Having experienced both I would say the Bay Area would suffer significantly from even a low 6.

There was a pretty good one less than 100 miles from Anchorage earlier. Over a 6. Felt it on the 5th floor of my work for a few minutes
