Per Sniper’s request....
Place your predictions for this season here.
We lose to San Jose in Round 1.
Optimistic predictions but still somewhat realistic:
- Dylan Strome sticks in the NHL. Puts up 35-40, mostly assists.
-Derek Stepan breaks 60 points but not by much.
-Antti Raanta plays 60 games, is a Vezina nominee, but doesn't win it.
-Alex Galchenyuk comes back in game 10. Ends up scoring 25 goals.
-Niklas Hjalmarsson scores a hat trick. He scores 0 goals otherwise.
-Darcy Kuemper actually manages to stay a little above .900 SV% but posts a ****ty W-L record.
-Nick Cousins scores 10 goals.
-Jakob Chychrun returns in game 20, causing intense competition for playing time. One of him, Connauton, or Lyubushkin gets traded.
-Kyle Capobianco gets around 10 games in the NHL and impresses. He is ready to fight for a full time roster spot in 2019-20.
-Brad Richardson gets scratched for 40 games.
-We finish with 92 points, taking the second wild card spot, but it crosses us over into the Central bracket. Nashville destroys us in the first round.
-Oliver Ekman-Larsson is a Norris finalist but it ends up going to one of Brent Burns or Erik Karlsson.
-Liam Kirk scores 70 in Peterborough.
-Barrett Hayton scores 100 in Sault Ste. Marie.
-The Kings miss the playoffs.
-Eugene Melnyk is launched into the sun.
Ha, I've been contemplating posting that.
But it's okay. I'll change it to winning over San Jose in 7, in the first round. And then Vegas is easier than San Jose, so they will get shorter than this year. So, conference finals for the Yotes. But losing there.
Don't know against who, can't see the future.
If you have us losing to Winnipeg in the WCF I will personally send you a letter with strawberry stains on it.
Fighting for a wild card spot until the last three games of the year and we miss
We win a draft lottery
101 points. 3rd place in the division and likely playing Vegas, San Jose, or Calgary in the 1st round.
Risky point total for me to throw out there, but regardless of who the coach was, I thought this was the year that the young talent finds its groove. I am expecting really strong years from:
If Strome can show signs of his final 10 games last year, then those point totals could even be understating where we wind up at. The collection of talent, while some are young, is just too good to not be in the playoffs at this stage.
94 pts...miss the playoffs
Keller plays himself in 1st line elite forward category
We do not win any lottery picks
If Strome gets decent top 6 time and linemates, puts up 45+ points, if not ends up confirming bust status.
I'm going to go with a wildcard team.
Raanta stays healthy.
Fischer scores 25+ goals
VH- Gets 50 points
Strome gets traded a month into season for another struggling prospect
I'll take 2 outlier predictions:
1. Slow start, we are under 75 points and Tocc gets fired during the season, Chayka after the season ends.
2. We are over 96+ points, we make the playoffs and win a round maybe 2 and go to WCF.
We won't be an 80 to 90 point team as most are predicting.
Just miss playoffs
We should have been sniffing for a playoff spot last year but everyone had excuses. Year four of the rebuild, no excuses we have to make the playoffs which will require around 94 pts. It will be tough as there is so much parity in the league, but I think the guard is starting to change. LA is old, the Ducks have injuries and also getting old, the Wild I believe will go downhill. The Sharks and Vegas are a mystery to me and they could take a dump or be one of the better teams. It will be an interesting year, and one with much pressure on RT and Chayka as there should be. We as fans have to expect more from our team and the playoffs every year should be the goal. I will go along with AZviaNJ's prediction.
36-35-11 = 83pts and walk into lottery with 12th best odds. Take advantage of roughly 2.5% odds and move up to 2nd pick. Spend entire offseason reminding everyone on HF outside of Forum 40 that we were actually not the 2nd worst team. Zero non-Coyotes fans remember this. We are glad to have Kakko (who with Keller, becomes one of the four or five best players in Arizona franchise history) but are mildly irritated that even the professional guys like McKenzie and Button, etc keep saying we had the 2nd worst record and can’t remembwr that we actually moved way up.
It would be nice to be on the giving side of the one finger salute instead of receiving the annual one finger salute.
We Stay in the playoff hunt until roughly game 75. Just barely miss the playoffs. Keller sticks at C after impressing down the middle. Strome Performs decently but still gets dealt.
97 points. With major injuries that prediction changes but I'm just going off normal roster.
I'd prefer to be right about this prediction than to predict a lesser season and be right haha. Gonna believe in the Yotes!
Draft 12th, select Newhook.
Hayton will stay up for a 9 game try out where he goes a ppg playing significant minutes on the PP and PK. He starts by centering the third line but runs away in the Calder race and quickly begins centering the NHLs top line of Keller-Hayton-Galchenyuk. He is praised as the 2nd coming of Bergeron and ends the season with 75 points.
Somebody got to give that Smechnikov competition with the Calder.
Miss the playoffs by three points.
Lose every draft lottery.
Pick mid-first-round... assuming we keep the pick.
My Hayton prediction is coming true!
