I just thought of something - you know the rumor about the new arena going on (paraphrasing) "the casino arizona site"? What if whoever was talking about "Casino Arizona Field", which is the sponsored name for the Rising's temporary stadium?

and what a coup for that tribe, right? Moving from "Gila River (Casino) Arena" to "Casino Arizona Arena"?

Those dudes would cringe having to talk about the Coyotes. But to be fair, I'm sure there are few markets that hockey wouldn't get dominated by football, basketball and baseball on the sports radio stations. The more that I think about it, I actually think they would be excited to talk about a winning team, as we haven't had that in Phoenix in years. Let's hope the Coyotes give them that this season.

Dallas morning shows have limited hockey coverage. That's not to say that they leave them behind - as the playoffs started to go forward, there was a little more chatter for them.

I don't know if anyone on the particular morning show that I listen to is a "hockey expert," per se. But, their program director and one other person heavily involved in a mid-day show know hockey. So, sometimes the morning shows will reference what the program director thinks and that allows for a discussion.

If the radio station still operates the same way, I think you need some sort of head management and maybe one other broadcaster in the daily lineup who actually knows hockey. Hell, turn one of those late round draft picks we had who went to ASU into a broadcaster or a behind-the-scenes guy in the office. If Doug is the same Doug and Wolf is the same Wolf, I just think that they report the news in relating to hockey coverage because no one really has coached these guys into talking hockey.

But yes, winning does create that extra coverage. I haven't seen a major difference in coverage in Dallas vs. Arizona. But I also think that the Dallas radio program makes people want to listen in the morning. Sometimes, Doug and Wolf got a little too monotonous for me. And in the monotony of not talking about hockey, they will remain that way until the team forces them to talk more about them as well.

He could look like Homer Simpson for all I care. I’d buy a Matthews Kachina Jersey in a heartbeat

Looks arent important anymore. Taylor Pyatt never scored a goal because of his piercing blue eyes.

This is what goal scoring looks like

Damn, they did him dirty with that shot. It's crazy how he looks like an average leaguer but he rips up the best league in the world.
