Just seems funny is all with the way everyone has complained about Wideman that he moves up. I think the 2/3 pairs will play about the same as one another so I think its more a 2a/2b situation.

People have complained more about Hamilton.

Makes sense to put Wideman with a better defensive defenceman in order to cover for his blunders. Same for Russell. Hamilton is moved down because we can't trust him against top competition at the moment.

Yeah but you know how some people are. "more responsibility? KILL HIM!"

Gio and Wideman have spent a lot of time together since Wideman has been here. They have always been a pretty bad pairing IMO.

But at this point they have better chemistry than Gio-Hamilton and good feel for Hartley's system - and you need quick decision-making.

That's it exactly. It's not the best pairing in the world, but they need something reliable at this point, and I think Gio-Wideman is the most reliable solution in the absence of one Terrence J'Marcus Brodie.

Odd choice; would have thought it'd be Hathaway or Granlund.
Grant has been very good. 3 goals in 3 games and by my count 65%+ in the faceoff circle while being tied with Arnold for faceoffs taken.

not a terrible idea to get Smid some time in the AHL, IMO he has not been up to NHL speed in the games he has played.
