Ramage being sent to the ECHL is a bit surprising. But I guess with guys like SOB & Smith being down, as well as Breen & Lamb he is kind of redundant. Meanwhile guys like Lafranchise & Davies are there. Will be interesting to see if he rejoins them at some point.
On a side note I was a James Martin fan awhile ago, but seeing how he did not even get a shot this year when so many others did, I highly doubt he is resigned.

Will be interesting to see how the Dline will look for PO's.

Ramage is rapidly entering bust territory. When you're 23 and you can't crack the bottom pairing of an AHL team, it doesn't bode well for your chances as an NHL skater in the future.

He is a professional rookie who is on a team that is chalk full of AHL veterans and recent NHLers that play the same game as him. He has struggled some recently but through most of the season he was actually quite good.

Just like I what I said about Breen. Ramage will not become anything for the Flames. He will be just be a a career AHL player. Sounds a bit harsh but just my opinion.

Breen would be an NHL player if he hadn't got hurt last year. His game has taken a huge step back this year.

Still at best he would be a borderline 7th Dman. He is too slow for the NHL. Also with Wotherspoon and others coming up Breen is becoming redundant.
I really don't think you understand how good Breen was last season prior to his injury. His skating has suffered a great deal as a result. Breen would easily be an everyday defensemen this season and likely would have made it so we didn't need to acquire Smid.

But it's really hard to take people seriously when I know they are basing their hard and firm opinions on no more than a couple viewings (at best) and a whole lot of stat watching.

Well said!

But in all seriousness I think Ramage will have a tough go at making the NHL.

Question: I wonder what Sven's stat line would look like if the first dozen games or so, when he was mentally struggling, are omitted from it. I bet he'd be about a point-per-game...!?

His stats don't look great until mid January
He's been to patient this year saying that he'll play a 200ft game and let the offense come and it took until mid January for him to understand he needed to play his best 200ft game AND be creative/dangerous in the offensive zone.

Or it just takes time to adapt both a defensive awareness and an offensive presence into ones game.

It's will definitely be tough for Ramage to make the NHL, there is no question about that. He was never even close to being a shoe in to be in the bigs, so people claiming his stock has fallen after a tough month or so are clueless.

In case you're implicating me, I never said his stock had fallen - only that he's entering bust territory (which he was never far from, but there was a chance he outperformed expectations).

The Chicago Sun Times is also reporting Mark Cundari of the Wolves has been recalled. He's still #Flames property, just on another AHL team.

#Flames have recalled Chris Breen. Looks like there might be injury news on Wotherspoon coming in the near future. Standby.

Yeah I think Ramage was always a long shot any way you looked at it.

A quick glance shows:

First 15 games after demotion
2 goals
2 assists
4 points
-7

Last 21 games
8 goals
10 assists
18 points
even

Sven will be a productive NHL player with time, I just question whether or not it will be here in Calgary or somewhere else..

I really liked Cundari's game last year, he was like a D-man version of Paul Byron. Apparently he's had a tough season in the AHL, hope he has another successful callup. Hard to see him sticking in a Burke team however, considering all the other smaller D-men ahead of him.

If he was never far from "bust territory" then how exactly would he be a bust? A bust is someone who doesn't come close to meeting expectations.

Cundari was downright bad for the Heat this year, tough is a complete understatement.

Interesting that both he and Breen would be recalled though, is there more than just 1 injury?

He was always a bottom pairing ceiling kind of guy with very little offensive acumen, which is as close to a bust as you can get without a complete Hail Mary draft pick. There are two ways a player can bust: he can not come close to meeting expectations, or he can flat out fail to make the NHL (which might not be that far from expectations, but I don't see how it could be characterized as anything but a bust, when the draft is to acquire future NHL players).

You actually believe that all players that don't make the NHL are busts?? :shakehead

Yeah, isn't the term "bust" generally applied to players who are fully expected to become impact players at the NHL level? Am I a bust because I didn't make it to the show?
