Ron Hainsey 4 x 5,000,000 New York Rangers

What? The guy was a 3rd pairing dman on a team that didn't even make the playoffs and he got a $20M contract?

I noticed this as well. I believe he was still on the prospect list of another team, released in the offseason and included in the FA list by mistake.

LOL. I was waiting for the criticism on that one... admittedly overpaid by a lot and realize it could end up being my "Redden deal." He's making close to $5M in the real league (not that that justifies it... I know), is still only 30 years old, and based on a 3-year performance rating should have a decent rating. Had $10M+ in cap space and he'll be my only big $ signing.

Also, Jay McKee didn't play hockey last year, and although he hasn't officially retired, spent last year coaching at Niagara University, so who knows. But I thought if a player goes a year without playing or having a contract he's retired.

Wrt to the RFA offers I'll respond via e-mail as well but for the masses ...

Eric Nystrom 4 years @1,450,000
Detroit does not match. I'll take the 3rd rounder compensation (thank you Nick) and slot the just signed Ryan Johnson (@ $1.1M) or Brandon McMillan in that 4th line spot.

Ryan Wilson 4 years @ 1,499,999
Detroit will match. Had you gone up a couple of bucks into the 2nd rounder compensation range who knows if I would have matched ;) Either way I got longer term at a lower cost than I had offered so thank you.

Dan good value signing on Kytnar. I had trouble deciding on that one but I had to free up some room under the max 80 org size rule. Had it not been for the numbers game I would have liked to have been able to give him a year or two more to develop myself.

Yeah, had a strong feeling you would pass on that one given your depth. For me, getting a guy that can play any forward position, has a great DF rating and plays a good physical style was important for my bottom six going forward. Plus, not a lot of depth for the Wild on the left side, so he may yet get a bit more ice time. If he fades into a 5 minute a night guy and starts to get scratched at times, it was a bad a move, but if he can be a steady 10-20 guy forward, I'd be very pleased.

I can understand the money, what else are you going to do with it, but the years makes me cringe. Hope for your sake the new CBA doesn't lower the Cap by 10M.

If that happens, I'd be screwed and would probably buy out the deal after a couple seasons... we should be going up another $5M next year though. After that, who knows...

Its interesting to see that Big burt was traded by Washington then he resigned him this off season :P

That is actually an error, as I didn't offer Bert a contract at all this offseason. I am sure Matt is in the middle of getting all this stuff figured out. :D

Looking back at the rumor on Bert, I would bet it was a typographical error on Winnipeg. That one is still hard to write for me.

Be honest, you made the offer b/c he comes with winning HFNHL play-off experience and you're hoping some of it will rub off :naughty:

is this list final ? If so can one of the SIM gods email me why aplayer I offered didn't sign with me?

So far these are the signed players excluding udfa. Players going to further bidding havent been listed yet. As the note in the first post says, I'm posting in pieces.

Correct Bertuzzi is actually a Jet. Also Matt Gilroy shouldn't have signed that RFA contract his QO was actually 2.75 mil or something along those lines so that signing is voided. It would have been nice to have a list of the QO offers ahead of time. Hopefully that Gilroy is the only guy with this problem.

So was Gilroy not qualified at his QO? If not, then does that make me his highest UFA bidder? :D

If he was qualified at $2.75..... holy smokes.
