What a massive mistake to not have these games available to fans.

With all the hype and they decide to do this.

I can't even find a place to listen.... ugh

I would imagine you could put up a Go Pro from centre field, stream it on Youtube and still be able to gather a couple thousand viewers.

So what do we do with Reese being that he’s out of options?

I think it depends. If he can somehow find a way to stop sucking at the plate and go back to anything halfway approximating 18/19 McGuire, then you keep him as the backup, let Kirk get regular ABs for the Bisons (pairing with Riley Adams) until he goes on a good enough run to earn the permanent promotion. At which point you suddenly have a viable big-league catcher you can shop around in trade in McGuire. Teams always need catching.

If 2020 McGuire remains the norm (by which I also mean "the version of himself he was in the minors, but worse") then you can either flip him for some low-end asset like cash or IFA bonus pool money or whatever and just run Jansen/Kirk right from the get-go.

Odorrizi is looking for a three year deal for between 12 and 15 per. Seems like a huge ask

If Ray and Matz can consistently find the strike zone maybe they wont be that bad after all. They have above average velocity and their control has been their downfall. Maybe just maybe Atkins knew what he was doing when acquired these 2. Put his faith in Walker to figure these guys out.

I am very optimistic about Ray. He's a solid pitcher. Seems to have tweaked things since joining us.

Matz.... has always had potential..... just hopefully our staff is the one able to squeeze whatever potential is left

He is not worth a penny more then what Walker signed for with the Mets
Yea I don’t get the ask. Makes sense why he’s still Unsigned. I don’t think I’d be too happy if the jays signed him to that deal. Way more likely to be a bad contract than a good one

Terry Francona about to get canceled

Given what's being reported now it wouldn't be surprising and wouldn't be without a certain amount of merit. Mickey Callaway being a disgusting, aggressive, stalking scumbag doesn't appear to have been just a couple of isolated incidents. It was ongoing, repetitive, and apparently fairly openly observed. And if the Cleveland org knew about it and did nothing then they deserve a good amount of the blame, up to and including Francona as Callaway's direct superior and apparently close friend. Whether or not it can be mitigated by the admission that they don't have a close relationship, Francona getting dragged publicly by his own son for his complicity in this is a pretty bad look.

To be honest, I'm a little surprised there hasn't been any meaningful blowback on Shapiro and Atkins, both of whom were part of the Cleveland front office for the bulk of the time in which Callaway was employed there.

Boo

I get it, but I want minor league baseball. This has the feeling of something that continuously gets pushed back until we miss another entire minor league season.

The Blue Jays will get all the catchers

2021-22 MLB International Prospects Big Board

10.
Luis Meza Venezuela C
Notes:
Born: Sept. 11, 2004. B-T: R-R. Ht.: 5-11. Wt.: 185.

Venezuela consistently is home to top international catchers, with Diego Cartaya (Dodgers), Francisco Alvarez (Mets) and Ronnier Quintero (Cubs) in the most recent signing classes. Meza fits into that tier of players as a catcher who projects to stick behind the plate and is one of the better hitters in Venezuela. He has a loose, easy swing with a knack for being on time and strong game performance. He's a high-contact hitter who uses the whole field, with room on his broad-shouldered frame to fill out and drive the ball with more impact as he gets stronger. Meza's catch-and-throw skills are also advanced for his age. The Blue Jays are expected to sign Meza, who trains with Kander Depablos and Reynaldo Gonzalez.

Sounds like a carbon copy of Gabriel Moreno.

Francona definitely knew about it. Per the Athletic article:

"That summer, the woman in Arizona spoke on the phone with Tom Mannion, a partner at a Cleveland law firm.

“(Callaway) shouldn’t have done it (sending 'pornographic material'). He’s wrong; he knows that,” Mannion said during one call, which the wife recorded in August 2017.

Mannion continued: “I’ve actually talked to Francona and he told me he was willing to talk to your husband and you, and he said this has cost Mickey huge financially. It has cost him huge within the organization … he told me, he said, ‘Tom, I’m not losing my pitching coach.’”

Mannion at one point asked if a phone call from Francona would make her husband feel better. (Those offers were declined.)"

Yeah, that's definitely not good for him.

and lol at "would a call from Francona make the husband feel better." Like.... really? You think that's a reasonable remedy?

Feeling 'very welcomed,' Blue Jays' Springer settles in with spring debut - Sportsnet.ca

TORONTO – Ahead of his first Grapefruit League game with his new club, George Springer put on his dark blue Toronto Blue Jays jersey, glanced down and took a moment to absorb the new look.

“It was a little weird, just because I've been so accustomed to the same thing for basically my whole career,” Springer said after ripping a line drive single to centre and grounding out sharply to third as the designated hitter in a 4-2, six-inning victory over the Philadelphia Phillies on Tuesday. “But it's a new opportunity. I'm excited about it. … I really like the blue. It's a good colour. It was a little weird, but I'm kind of over it. It’s fun and I enjoy it.”

What was notably familiar for the star outfielder was his spot in the batting order, right back at the leadoff spot that was mostly his the past six years with the Houston Astros.

Manager Charlie Montoyo has been careful not to commit to any lineup combinations just yet, but conceded that putting Springer up top “could be a hint” into his current thinking.

“I like that,” he added, before quickly appending a “but we’ll see” caveat.

“He’s done that the whole time with Houston, so he’s really comfortable in that spot,” Montoyo said. “He’s just such a good hitter. I like when he leads off, like he did today.”

There’s certainly no need for a commitment at this point, and Montoyo will be able to mess around with a number of different looks in the weeks ahead. Marcus Semien batted behind Springer in this one, followed by Bo Bichette, Lourdes Gurriel Jr. (who ripped a solo home run off Bailey Falter in the fourth), Vladimir Guerrero Jr., and Cavan Biggio, the on-base machine, all the way down in the six-spot.

Montoyo doesn’t mind Biggio that low in the order, feeling it adds length to the groupings, but how all the pieces best fit once some combination of Teoscar Hernandez, Randal Grichuk and Rowdy Tellez are also in the lineup is sure to be a spring-long talking point.

The funny thing about Keith is he contradicts himself as he says "they see what I have always said about Biggio. He shouldn’t be playing every day for a contender."

Nope Keith you originally said "he doesn't deserve a roster spot"

Now you say he shouldn't be playing everyday for a contender?

That statement means one of 2 things;
-he can play everyday but not on a contender; or,
-he can play on a contender but not everyday

Both involve him being on a roster thus deserving that roster spot. So by using his own evaluation criteria and words, Keith is wrong.

Regardless of which it is, either possible meaning clearly contradict what Keith originally said about Biggio not deserving a roster spot.

Just looks worse every time he talks about Biggio without admitting he was dead wrong.
