Short term Riikola will 100% outplay what POJ has given is recently.

Hockey fans are weird for young players if they are scratched or go to WBS for a little bit especially if they’ve been bad.

 

Well, when Matheson came back, he replaced Ruhwedel and POJ stayed in the lineup over decent Ruh. Hard to imagine Riikkola playing and POJ sitting for him when Ruh sits as well. Once Dumo is back, then it is a different story tho.

I’m genuinely excited, tbh. Even ghost McCann would be a help for L4 wherever he plays on it.

McCann was a part of our best line and had 5 points in 11 games prior to getting injured including too sloppy ass goals which is what we need right now.

If fully healthy I’d have Sceviour, ERod, McCann on our 4th line with DOC first call up.

Jank and Laff can stay seated for a while although I did like Laff’s last game but they are generally few and far between.

 

Canner should replace Jank. If Laff and DOC continue to provide nothing, then Riikola should replace one tbh.

Also not opposed to trying Josh Currie or Jordy Bellerive from the taxi squad. Nothing to lose.

Lafferty is staying awhile because he hits...or I should say, as long as he hits opposing players...his ridiculous mistakes and terrible O zone penalties will be forgotten by Sully..

It wasn’t a comment about his play this year, it was a comment about how low the bar is to be an improvement.

 

It's pretty good.

 

I mean, McCann is basically Yanni Gourde's production when he is in the bottom six.

 

Rask has also been in the league a while and has honed his skill as well as being behind a team that plays to make it easier on him plus his talent.

Also Rask is a first round pick that was picked there for a reason. Jarry is showing his talent as a 2nd rounder trying to back up an Allstar performance last year behind a team that is an absolute shit show defensively.

Also last 5 games Jarry has been a lot better than Rasks last 5 so at least ours is trending back up and Rasks inconsistent streak won't last but hopefully long enough for the Pens to get a few pts.

 

it’s the streakiness and W vs C for me. He could be his most frustrating self there and it would still be an upgrade.

 

Although I would love it to be true, I highly doubt that the return of Jared f***ing McCann is going to be the magic elixir for this team...

I mean, why not give Riikola a chance if he was looking really good and is a younger player with some potential too. Maybe we get some trade value out of him if we showcase him?
