OEL has went from arguably top 5 defenceman in the world, to not even top 40.

The Panthers wouldn't want Kessel even if it means getting rid off Yandle's contract in the process. They'd be just introducing another incompatible player who's on a downswing of his career.

Yandle with no retention + 4th for Duclair + Luostarinen + 1st.

Kessel JUST put up 20 goals on the most pathetic offense in the league. He’s signed for just one more season. I wouldn’t worry about downswing. I think the chances of him putting up fewer than 55-60pts in that single season he’d spend as a Cat are about zero.

True. A lot happened. Tough to pinpoint which factor it was. Will be interested to see if he can rebound elsewhere.
