Well the insiders on TSN have said plenty of times he was unwilling to include Kapanen/Johnsson as part of a package for Pesce, which is why a trade never got done.

I laughed when i thought i read Mcquaid & a 4th for Bracco . Then i realized it was Mcquaid for Bracco and a 4th :/

As a Rangers fan, I think Vesey is a more valuable piece than Pionk right now. Pionk is wonderfully overrated around here. At least Vesey plays both sides of the ice at a respectable level.

Both together are not worth Kapanen.

to be fair this is very different than saying he wouldn't trade Kapanen for Pesce. that makes it sound like a 1 for 1.

Stat wise, Vesey and Kapanen are not too far off. Kap plays with better players as well. Pionk is an offensive only dman who can also qb a pp. I dont see why I am so far off. Kap will ask for 4+ which will be tough for Toronto to fit.

The leafs do not need another defenseman like Pionk and I say this as a Ranger fan. They need a two way defender. Pionk is not that. Vesey wouldn’t be a bad addition for them though. He could provide depth scoring and has gotten better on the defensive side.
