I think our organization was hoping they came down to 4.1/4.2. The deal takes him to UFA status which I'm fine with. If he can put up 50 points next year it's a fair deal.

I think this guy is underrated. More than just a product of Panarin. I think he could be a long term #2 C somewhere.

This is a fair deal, all around.

I mean the Rangers would be the perfect place for that. Young and upcoming and need a center, loaded with wingers to help carry the load. Most Ranger fans, including me, just don't see it though. Strome is okay, he's solid, but I don't think he can be locked into that role on a 'contender'.

I would be shocked if he didn't put up 55-65 points next year at minimum with most likely playing with Panarin or possibly Lafreniere some games if he Quinn changes up the lineup for whatever reason.
Hopefully take a few less penalties and improve on his defense a little.

Ya, I see that opinion a lot. By all accounts he's not a great defensive player. And he has seemed a little "disengaged" in the Rangers games I've seen. So I get it.

But the talent is there. And I love a good bounceback / late bloomer story.

Solid deal.

Question is, would this help or hurt my Quest for Toews in Manhattan now that Strome is a signed asset?

This makes perfect sense.

Strome would have to be on the way out somehow for that to still be a consideration.

Exactly my point

When I proposed last month, I didn't have Strome as an option due to FA. (I was giving up Kravtsov)

Just curious if it opens up new branches to it.

Solid deal for both sides. Rangers have a bunch of money that won’t be open tied down after this upcoming year and he expires right as the elc’s start to.

Fair deal for both sides, and lets Chytil continue to.develop at his own pace. Really happy with this deal.

Say what you will, @tarheelhockey , but in flat cap world, if UFAs command these amounts in two year contracts, I'm getting more and more happy about Foegele's 2.15M.

TBH I questioned the Foegele contract at the time, but am feeling better about it all the time. No disrespect to Strome but this deal makes Foegele look like a steal.

... would this help or hurt my Quest for Toews in Manhattan ...
Colorado not trading young D Toews
NYR have no real need at this time for older Toews, at age 32, with ~1100 NHL games played, and >$10M Cap Hit for 3 more season... I don't foresee CBH retaining ~50% ...

Maybe if NYR are contending in spring '23, maybe they consider him as a short-term rental
