My guess is this is a move to add some toughness for the young guys. Also, it keeps a roster spot open on the bottom six, so a young guy can play needed big minutes in the A.Hope they don't actually dress him in games all that often for the Rangers sake. Not all that good at the hockey part.

He'll be the 13th forward most nights, I'm guessing. He'll be in Hartford by December.
He definitely worked his tail off in the preseason to earn his contract, thats for sure.
So did Richard Clune with the Leafs, but that doesn't mean the guy should even sniff the NHL during the regular season.
Punching bag for Capitals games.
ok but haley produces at about the same rate in the nhl as clune does in the ahl so not comparable at all
But what are his goals per 60?Haley has 10 goals in 250 NHL games. There's no reason why any GM should give this guy an NHL contract.
Bodyguard for the press box? What’s the purpose of a bodyguard if he doesn’t playThe Rangers and their token goons of late are eerily reminiscent to Lou's token goons in his last few years in New Jersey. Eric Boulton, Andrew Peters, Krys Barch... sheesh.
With a forward group that young, it's worth it to employ a bodyguard.
