There is no way Florida acquires the 2nd overall pick unless it’s a massive over payment. Barkov or Huberdeau+ is what the Rangers probably as for.

That offer is missing Barkov because nobody would even trade 5OA for that garbage package let alone a higher pick.

Going by Chris Peters article from ESPN.

Denisenko ranked 14th best prospect in NHL
Tippett ranked 15th best prospect in NHL
#13th pick could potential be a top 50 prospect in NHL.

And it's still not even close to what it would take.

Rangers block Florida's number after this offer.

Well, look. Colorado won Stanley Cups with the players they got from the Lindros trade while the Flyers won nothing.

That being said, this isn't the Lindros trade. If you want to offer up Trochek, Matheson, Tippett, Denisenko, '19 1st & '20 1st, I'd consider it.

Great. Rangers have depth in the prospect pool. Maybe the deepest in the the entire league. What we lack and have lacked for over 20 years is a game breaking, elite offensive force. It cost us the Cup in 2014. And now one finally fell into our laps and we are going to give that up???

Tippett and Denisenko are good prospects, and the 13th could end up being a Cam York. There's no denying that there's value there.

But it's not enough to convince the Rangers to give up a shot at getting what they've needed for the last 20 years or so. While these are quality prospects, it is still quantity for quality from a Rangers' perspective.

Unless a team makes an offer that they'll regret, I can't conceive of a scenario in which the Rangers move a chance to gain a top player.

Well this went sideways quickly.

The OP is horrible for NY. The counters are laughably bad for Florida.

I cant see NY moving the pick. If they did Hubreadeau would be a great return. Saying start with and add or Barkov is ridiculous

Plot: rebuilding team wins lottery to pick #2

Twist: rebuilding team says screw the rebuild and trades the pick.

The Rangers aren’t trading the pick.
