I don't know. I don't think he has earned that. I think if this is what the team wanted and what he wanted that he'd be signed by now. I don't think he is asking for 8 or 9. My guess is that his asking price is in that range while the team wants him under 6.

Bringing him in under 6 ignores pretty much all of his comparables, though. And the fact the salary cap has gone up.

My guess is Willy wants $7m+ and Dubas wants something around $6m. They'll meet in the middle somehow.

1) $5,000,000 x 3 years (RFA expiry)
2) $6,000,000 x 6 years
3) $6,500,000 x 7 years
4) $7,000,000 x 8 years

6.6 for 7 years is my guess. I'm guessing Nylander is asking for around 7m and that Dubas is looking for a deal in the range of Dylan Larkin. If they can't meet somewhere in the middle then it's probably a bridge deal ~5.5 for 3 years.

Yeah it's widely agreed upon that they (both Marner and Nylander) fall between the Ehlers Gaudreau and Patrnak contracts.
