I can’t believe this has gone on so long.

What are we going to do with ourselves once Nyl signs/sits/gets traded lol.

Anyways for my 2 cents. The more days pass the more I don’t think he stays. Hopefully something happens soon to put an end to this.

Trouba didn't end his holdout until Nov. 7.... and his contract was only 3 million per season (bridge). If Winnipeg, of all organizations, didn't have to cave... then we don't and won't.

Better to cave now if you're Nylander. Waiting until Dec 1 to cave would look way worse. Leafs aren't caving. No sense losing another million Willie.

I've decided I’m cheering for Team Nylander ITT, unless he gets traded before thread XXVII. Wait, can you make trade on Sunday?

It's hard to imagine anything but a bridge deal or a trade at this point. If anything long term was possible he'd be playing already.

He knows if he signs a bridge deal he'll be dealt by the time it ends. No way they go another round of negotiations with Michael.

The anticipation of something, anything happening is becoming too much.

The non-stop sports media coverage, the endless debate, all the rumors and drama...

The build-up is just too intense. Lives are being destroyed and friendships ruined.

No doubt several have sought professional help and/or taken a break from social media.

We need relief like somebody who ate a well-expired jalapeno bean burrito, purchased at a gas bar, and is now stuck inching along on the highway during rush hour traffic while desperately searching for an exit and a suitable location for a bowel movement.

Yea, I went there. This needs to end, and soon.

Disclaimer: Don't take this too seriously.

I've been on a rollercoaster of emotions bouncing between "this is bull****! **** all of this" to "I couldn't give two ****s I'll just watch the Leafs play hockey." I'm back to the clam phase but I'll start seeing read again in about four days I'm sure, if not sooner.

So here we are again, im sure its been mentioned but I just read it for the first time tonight.

Yanni Gourde signs an extension with the Lightning for 5.1m cap hit over 6 seasons. Of course the situation and his NHL path are somewhat different than Nylander, but everything is about production right, and he is coming off of a season both more productive goals and points to Nylander while maintaining a point per game this year so far.

At this point if Nylander and Gross can't or refuse to hear what absolutely every single hockey mind out there is saying, it means to me he is just supremely selfish and self absorbed. That's the type of player I DONT want on my team regardless of his talent. Being the spiteful human I am though, I would make him pay for it this year by just simply telling them he wont be in the NHL and Nylander can enjoy the year on some Euro squad decreasing his overall value.

Ahh a fellow spiteful human, honestly at this point I'd be the same, let him sit out all year don't even speak to him until the off-season, or trade him if the return is right

With Yanni signing this new contract, Im shocked the constant Dubas haters havent complained that Dubas couldnt “close” on Yanni Gourde either when they met a few seasons ago.

Stupid Dubas, has the eye to see something special in an uproven kid, yet cant close on negotiations.

    Fire Dubas.

    (Insert Sarcasm)

Being spiteful would only hurt the team even further. It might feel good but its not the answer. If you can sign him to a reasonable deal you do it. If not, you look at other options.

You’d think even the Nylander camp would want that now. Yeah, I get why they want a long term deal, but at least a bridge deal gets him a year closer to UFA.

What does William gain if he sits out the year?

That’s not necessarily spite. If he won’t sign a reasonable contract and you can’t get a reasonable return on a trade, what are you left with?

I actually think the cap is going to go up quite a bit over the next couple years - with the gambling revenue and the expansion fees - but you still don’t want to sign guys to contract a above their current value.

Why is it our RFA's seemingly want to be paid like UFA's its so annoying

Sign a sensible contract, perform, and there's no way we trade Willie why can't he see this

I'm even more spiteful. I wouldn't even tell him he won't be in the NHL. I'd just stop calling and taking his calls.
