that's what a lot of posters here believe to be the truth. And it may be but it comes back to him signing elsewhere for $7M showing that he really wasn't being outrageously over the top with his demands
IMO, it looks worse on Dubas if he gives in than if he sticks to his guns.
If someone else is willing to trade for him and pay him more than what the Leafs feel he's worth, why is it assumed they have the correct valuation ?

i agree but that has nothing to do with people saying Willie is being delusional in his demands

and just because we can't afford to pay him as much as his comparable's or other teams would if you like it put that way better doesn't mean his ask is unreasonable
Nothing personal, just business.
Nylander is well within his right to ask for X$.
The Leafs are well within their rights to structure their cap with X$ for Nylander.

However an impasse can only last so long. If there is no resolution, then it's time for a trade. Another team may have their cap structure allocated with X$ for Nylander. Something he might prefer.
