Undrafted roomie from 2020. That means he only signed a 3 year contract? So free agents at the end of the season and with Etienne, jags unlikely to offer him a contract.

This was a great move.
Low cost move since they are 5-2. Jags waiving the white flag, which isn't surprising. Last year of his deal since he was an undrafteed rookie in 2020. Listed as an RFA in the off-season. So, not sure what that means. That they would get compensation if another organization signed him and they don't match the offer?

Always comes down to the compensation. Teams will move players at the TDL if they are pending free agents that they do not plan on signing. Won't rely on the compensatory picks if they plan on being active in the free agent market, thus negating the comp. pick. Patriots and Ravens really know how to work the system to maximize those comp. picks.

The team can give him a RFA tender at a specific value, like original round, 2nd round, etc and that locks him into a specific salary range and right of first refusal and/or compensation if he is signed by someone else

from overthecap.com

2023 Projected RFA Tenders

TypeAmount
First Round$6,011,000
Second Round$4,308,000
Right of First Refusal$2,629,000

So this means that the Jets would be locked into that deal like an NHL QO if they make that tender. So they’d need to tender him at $6 mill to obtain a first or $4.3 mill for a second if he ended up signing with another team after wards.

Yeah, and those #'s are not exact as they used an estimated figure for the cap next year so it could go up or down a little but it should be in the ballpark
