I can't see him signing for 4 years anywhere unless he can make up somewhat for the amount he would leave on the table longer- say 4X6.5 million versus 6X5 million. Otherwise, at his age, it doesn't make sense.

Even without Stamkos? I can't see him taking a 1 year deal though.

We'd have to give him like $8m to take a 1 year deal.

I don't get this. If we didn't have three bad contracts on the books, sure, it'd be worth taking a risk. But that's not our situation.

Nashville could use a top six winger, especially if Wilson doesn't show up in the regular season again, but Ladd would have to be pretty cheap. He could easily end up playing on the third line.

The bigger need right now is a second line center. I'd rather be focused on Backes right now as a stop-gap for Kamenev.

If it's a deal no longer than 3 years and for no more than $4m (I'd rather it be closer to $3.5m, or below ideally) I'd be OK with it. I don't think Ladd would be looking for that, though. At 30 years old, I expect Ladd to be looking for 5 or 6 years.

Hope Ladd lands in Nashville. Seems like a match made in heaven. Gonna have to spend some money though. Wonder what he's looking at in term.

Glad there's info that we're actually in on someone. If we sign Ladd I think we trade MDC for an NHL RW.
I'd like Hoffman from Ottawa or JVR from Toronto. Don't think they are RW'ers but I'd like to add them all the same.
As an Isles fan, I would be really pissed if Okposo walks and they sign Ladd for similar $$$. Given their age, and Ladd's style of play, I would rather have Okposo for 7 years than Ladd for 4-5.

I agree but I think Okie will get more per year.

Kinda goes against what Poile said a few days ago, but, hey why not?

this is what I was thinking. But I heard Poile on NHL Network Radio this morning saying he's always looking to upgrade our forwards. Whether that be through trade or free agency this offseason. He's seeing how some of our young guys look in development camp and doesn't want to "sign away a spot for Fiala or Aberg" but if there seems to be a fit or a gap for one of those two playing a full season he may make a run at someone.

I'm baffled by this rumor. Ladd is not a fit, unless Yzerman is shopping Killorn, and if that's the case it makes even less sense.

Not surprised Bergevin is on him, after ex-Caps forwards last season and Buffalo depth players we have moved on to Hawks depth forwards

I would expect a 33M+ on a 6yrs term... UFAs are overpaid year after year and it wont stop this summer

I just hope that GMPD doesnt do anything stupid

I'm confident we can actually sign him in Montreal if it's actually our main competition. Ex-Hawks players (Shaw, Danault) and management (Bergevin, Dudley, Waite), the guarantee to play in an offensive role, and I think the interest of playing in Canada can go a long way.

Plus if there's a guy on the market I can see Bergevin overpaying, it's Ladd.

If we payed 3.9M for 6 years for Shaw, I wonder how much we will offer Ladd. Personally, I dont think he's worth 6m. Something around 4.5M for 4 years maybe?

We definitely could use he's leadership in the locker room IMO.

As a Jets fan, I agree. Ladd isn't what people make him out to be. He's going to be one of those signings that a team regrets in a year or 2, he's seriously pretty close to dropping off a cliff in terms of his career, Ladd in 2 years would be a good 3rd liner on lots of teams. He won't be a top 6 player in 2 years.

I'd be okay giving Ladd big money if it's a short term contract. Or low money for a long-term contract. I think Ladd is a solid enough player, but man some team is going to give $$ + term. Yuck.

RW is better than LW for Montreal.

LW is ... Pacioretty, Carr, Danault

RW is ... Gallagher, Shaw, Andrighetto

Yeah if I were Bergy I would try and sign both Laad and Eriksson :naughty:

One can only dream...
