Also it seems like there are random Devils fans that hate the Isles and view them as a rival akin to the Rangers and Flyers. Most of us don't fall into the category so word to the Isles fans when arguing, make sure to focus on the avatar/username and don't loop us all into one.

NYI are considered legit contenders by opposing players, coaches, and even the media. Wouldn’t lose too much sleep about the rest.

Love the trade. NYI doubling down on their identity (which is their greatest strength) with even more versatility, character, and experience. Hopefully, a piece or two going the other way works out for NJD too.

I wish! Have you seen the ludicrous amount of money some of those "influencers" pull in? I have to badly dance and repeat movie lines for free.

Islanders are better than toronto, and that was before this trade.

Have always felt kind of a kinship w/NJD fans. At the end of the day we relate so well to each other in dealing w/the NYR “shadow”. That said- not sure if that would have been the case had we had more playoff battles. The one time we did tangle (‘88) was pretty darn intense when an upstart NJD knocked off the Division Champion NYI. I was 11/12 at the time and devastated. Still get nervous whenever I think of Sean Burke and your “Christmas Tree” uniforms.:help:

Looks like tonight's rumored lines are:

    Pageau - Barzal - Eberle
    Beauvillier - Nelson - Wahlstrom
    Bailey - Zajac - Palmieri
    Martin - Cizikas - Clutterbuck

Wouldn't be surprised to see things shuffle game to game over the next few.

Need to at least get Pageau back at C on the powerplay. His faceoff win % is too good to not.

I'm a die hard Isles fan and the Devils are my #2 team. We are allies against the Rangers and we've never even had a rivalry. Plus I have a lot of family in Jersey

This trade was good for both teams as long as NJ hits on one or both of the picks ....Greer goes to the bing and they need him there to protect the prospects as they funnel them in and maybe works his way up to the Rock....But key is hitting on the picks if they do NJ makes it a good trade to me great deal for Isles as both are right shots and bring grit and all out play both ways.....KP underlying numbers were good and he goes to a better team and if he gets hot Isle fans will take to him because he is a true sniper with grit

You do realize that teams have contract limits right? There are toss in players all the time in trades in order to account for this. For instance the Kings recently traded Brad Morrison in a deal for Olli Maata. He was not included for his value, but rather to move his contract slot. I'm surprised you have never heard of this before.

Agree. Travis great faceoff guy. Great leader. Hella good on the puck against the wall. Palms is a streaky scorer and a little slow. Great character too. Gonna miss them.

Some of Lebrun's comments on the trade:

LeBrun: Inside how the NHL trade deadline is shaping up as deals begin to go down

The sellers outnumber the buyers right now as far as I can tell. I’ve got this weird feeling that prices may crater come Monday and some decent players may be available for cheaper prices.

I strongly believe if Devils GM Tom Fitzgerald had waited until Monday on Palmieri, the return drops to a second-round pick. He was wise to act now. I don’t think the deal gets any better. And remember that Palmieri had a partial no-trade which limits the market to some degree.

While teams like Boston and Toronto had shown interest in Palmieri, I’m not convinced a first-round pick was attainable from either of those teams.

This is a win for both sides. Yes - it benefits the Islanders more as this is a great improvement on their roster. Devils managed a first out of all of it - which will be tough to come by in the coming years. Flat cap and all.

It's possible that Islanders 'win' the trade, but the Devils did well too. Weird year man, covid and such.

I've heard of it. I just don't ever claim to know every and all motivations for players being moved. You on the other hand are likely an NHL executive close to the New York Islanders.

    Ok?

The Islanders hands down won that trade. What’s the point you’re making here?

I think Fitzgerald is just inexperienced and panicked. Like The Doors once said, “People Are Strange...”

There are different thats for sure. Would not say better. I do think Toronto takes them in a 7game series and the leafs haven't made their splash yet

So why even have conversations about trades? Nobody on here has intimate knowledge of what goes on behind the scenes. People can reason though that an undrafted prospect who has yet to see any NHL action at 27 might not have much value. You then could look at the Islanders current contracts and notice that they are near the max with 48. Taking that information you could guess that the inclusion was primarily centered on moving a contract spot.

Being condescending does not elicit discourse either. Perhaps you have answered your own question.

I believe you started the condescending attitude when you made the comment that I must have first hand knowledge of the Islanders front office. I am simply saying that people can easily deduce that these players are likely being moved to clear contract slots. You don't have to have first hand knowledge to make an educated guess that that was the intention.
