No. Ericsson has been very good this year. So much so that it makes me wonder where this version of him has been most of his career.

Ericsson has always handled bigger minutes than him, while Smith on the other hand is... Smith.

And more to the topic, WTF were the Rangers thinking signing Smith to that contract? Too lazy to watch some tape on the guy?

Ericsson is a decent depth defenseman who suffers from being overpaid and just too soft for his size. Smith provides nothing in 80% of the games he plays.

Safe to say possibly the highlight of our year

It's a shame Smith has just never panned out. Part of this is due to where he was taken in the draft obviously.

Exactly.

Though he's been playing more physical this year. Not as much as I'd like, but more than usual. And he's still the only one who can handle forwards in front of the net.
