In First-Ever Champions Cup, NWHL’s Riveters to Play Luleå Hockey of the SDHL in 3-Game Series

June 5, 2018– In an historic event for professional women’s hockey, the NWHL and Sweden’s SDHL have partnered on the creation of the first-ever Champions Cup. The Isobel Cup champion Metropolitan Riveters will travel to Sweden to play a three-game series against SDHL champion Luleå Hockey at Norrbotten Arena.
The series will take place between Sept. 26–30. All three games will be played even if one of the teams wins the first two. ...
“The inaugural Champions Cup, in partnership with our friends at the SDHL, launches the first series between champions in professional women’s hockey leagues in North America and Europe,” said NWHL Founder and Commissioner Dani Rylan. “Over time, we anticipate that it will expand. Our goal is to further expose the women’s game and these athletes and role models to fans around the world. ...”
