Even if we're running wild with the notion that both are purely "complementary players" who need to be "carried" offensively to tally good results on the scoresheet...I still take Monahan in that scenario, as he's managed to be "carried" to a number of quality seasons by a much lesser player than either of the guys facilitating RNH.
I'd also just generally prefer Monahan as a Center, over Nuge. This precipitous decline in perception regarding Monahan feels like part of a wider trend these days, toward an even more volatile "what have you done for me lately?" climate 'round here.
