Hey preds fans, Canucks fan coming in peace with a change of scenery type of deal.

To Nashville:
Travis hamonic

To Vancouver:
Phillipe Myers

Canucks have too many dfd and need to clear cap. Hamonic due to length and his whole covid situation this past season (he’s now fully vaxxed) was a huge headache for the team. His play has been of a bottom pairing d but we have schenn/poolman that play a similar type game for that role. This helps the Canucks shed a tiny bit of cap but also get younger

Myers seems to have fallen out of favour and is the 7th d for the preds. Nashville tends to be a good place for dfd. Myers hasn’t worked out and Nashville has enough cap space that they can afford the extra 450k. May help them compete in the playoffs this season

Thoughts?

No. Myers didn't fall out of favor. He's a reclamation project with a laundry list of issues that the Flyers didn't address in his development. Many of the details the Preds worked on with Myers are the type things that a competent AHL program fixes as a kid moves from juniors to pro hockey but that the Flyers organization seemingly ignored. The Boro-Benning paring somehow works and brings a result much better than the total of its individual parts when both are healthy ... pushing Myers to the #7.

Hamonic brings nothing more than Myers except a higher price tag at a higher age.

We will see what Myers develops into. There's very little lost if he never moves past bottom pair. I don't think this deal does much for us.
