Hartman will fill a spot in Phillys third line and he will be cheap. For a team that doesnt need a "burn it down and start from scratch" rebuild this is probably a better move than getting a draft pick
If Hartman can replace Simmonds as 3RW and offer some feistiness, skill and just, well, not handle the puck like a hand grenade, I'll be happy. Liked him as a prospect, then as a Hawk and Pred. We'll see. I know people are whining about the return, but you can't hold a gun to other GMs and make them take your players, esp. when there were lots of options for rentals.

I also hate this trade as a Jets fan. This guy will be a pain in the ass to play against.

Hartman might overall have been an average player but he turned it on against the Jets . I am glad he is out of Nashville. Nashville lost the better 5 on 5 player in favor of the better PP player. Considering how their PP has been this season, it might be worth it for them.

At ES, these 2 produce the same over the last 2 years. Both provide energy and an edge.

Nashville got the PP minutes they needs, the Flyers got a pick for those minutes, and for Hartman not being a rental.

Both teams got what they want.

Hartman for Nashville has played 7 games in regular season against WPG and has 2 goals and 1 assist in those same 2 years, Simmonds has 2 assist in 4 games against WPG.

Nashville got the better playoff player and lost the better regular season player. Ask our defensemen how much fun this guy will be to play against.

I'm sure the Preds watched Reaves giving us problems last spring. Now they have a better version. Ugh.

I'm surprised nobody offered more than Nashville.

Don't get me wrong, I like Hartman (ex-Hawk) but I expected a larger return for Simmonds.
Unless the Flyers really wanted Hartman?

Fletcher seems to have preferred a roster player/ready prospect vs. a package of mulitple draft picks, which we can only assume was 2nd and 4th or something like that, certainly not a 1st. Hartman's a good player who could do very well in Philly. Has the speed and skill you need in a bottom 6 winger, and has some toughness too, which should endear him to the home crowd...

Leafs were reported to be interested, and Connor Brown came up.

Fletcher rightfully took the package with the cheaper player

why did you expect a larger return? i think there are a lot of people in this thread that haven't watched Simmonds the last 2 seasons. he is not good anymore. he still could be a decent PP specialist and good locker room guy, but he's done as an effective NHL player.

Simmonds was hurt last year for the whole year had multiple offseason injuries. Played through the injuries put up 24 goals last year and has 16 this year . takes time to recover. Simmonds will be good on nash because he's a great player.

If Hartnan plays like the every night, he will be a fan favorite. Great games despite not getting any points. Every shift seemed to be creating or doing something to be noticed in a positive way.

I 100% guarantee an HONEST Nashville fan will come in and post about Simmonds blind spinning passes to no one in a few games.

Only 1 game, but Simmonds got caved today. Hopefully he will help the Preds PP.
