People don't take into consideration Risto's playing too much and taking on all the heavy lifting for Buffalo.

He's playing the 9th most minutes per game in the NHL (more than players like Giordano and Pietrangelo) while not being suited for it. Give Hanifin those minutes and he's going to look bad as well.

Ristolainen's not a #1D and his style isn't efficient/suited to play Doughty-esque minutes so it's obvious he's prone to fatigue which leads to mistakes.

I wouldn't chalk up Ristolainen's poor play to mental fatigue alone. He makes the same stupid decisions regardless of ice time, they're just obviously fewer in number.
