If this were the regular season, I'd want the Mets to suspend him.

The Mets know he golfs routinely throughout the season.

Papers aren't going to run "Cespedes golfs before game 4 but players golf all the time". They're going to generate a lot more traffic running "Cespedes golfs before game 4".

The Mets are either going to ignore these stories, or release a statement supporting his golfing and his teammates'.

I wouldn't. He's been doing it for years. He's planning on playing professionally after he's done with baseball. He's that good. It's well known that he plays golf almost every day, practically.
