Wow! I was surprised to read that the Swiss NLA is best attended ice hockey league in all of Europe and SC Bern has the best attendance of all Euro teams. You would think it would be in Sweden or Finland.

Sweden rinks are usually pretty small. If I'm not mistaken, Frolunda is the only club with a rink with over 10K capacity

Sweden has a very competitive 2nd tier, sometimes big teams are relegated and replaced by teams from smaller towns. SHL attendance will probably improve next season with Djurgården back.

Well, there are a lot of Fans, but the atmosphere is not very good IMO.

Go to Ambri-Lugano and then you see what a really GREAT atmosphere is. :yo:

I'm sure that's pretty good as well! There's no such thing as a derby, but the best derby was SC Bern-Langnau IMO and I'm no Bern fan..

This is common and pretty annoying, but I'm not sure it would change things much if there was a transfer window. I guess teams and players would still reach agreements and just wait to make it official.

It's the "making it official" part that bothers me. I don't think id be able to cheer for that player knowing that he'll leave.

Players don't have anything to gain by being disinterested and playing below their level, it's not like Bodenmann helping Kloten kick Bern out of the playoffs would have any incidence on the 2015-16 season.

It has happend since the late 80's (although rarely as early as in this case, but it's common that players have new contracts in January already), and there are countless example of players still performing against their future team, the best example being Philippe Bozon signing with Lausanne a few months before sending them to the NLB in 1996.

It looks like we have the next "Bodenmann-case"... Philippe Furrer might have signed with Lugano for 15/16, according to Berner Zeitung.

Wanted to get a NLA season thread started. All info is from EliteProspects. I'm a long-time KHL fan, but this season I'll be following Swiss hockey more closely than ever. Looks like it's going to be a fun season!

HC Lugano also added Ryan Wilson who play KHL last year with Ak Bars Kazan (I believe), and formerly of the Colorado Avalanche.
