    Even if the return has ended being underwhelming, both the Burrows and Hansen deals were at least the *kind* of deals you want Benning to make; old, expiring players for youngsters. I mean, obviously the guys they targeted didn't work out, but the moves themselves were applauded because they actually had rebuilding logic behind them. Now if only they'd take the step of actually targeting decent players, we might get somewhere.

    Being bad doesn't increase the likelihood of your picks from the lower round of the draft working out, but normally it increases the gm of a bad team's desire to get more draft picks. You know, seeing as how they're where you get the majority of NHL players.

    Not exactly true. Goldobin wasn’t really used as a scoring winger, he was used as a 4th liner, and in the end, a bench player. I personally think his mis use was a bit stupid, he should have been given the Baertschi treatment when he was force fed minutes and allowed to work through the struggles.

    With that being said, he wasn’t an intricate part of our roster and will be easy to replace from within. MacEwan take his place as the next in line prospect winger, but with guys like Spooner and Pearson in the mix he’ll probably compete for a bottom 6 role.

    I wouldn't call any of those players a clear upgrade. Can you think of anyone else at all other than MacEwan from Utica who might compete for a forward roster spot next year?

    Goldobin averaged 15 minutes a night, 2:30 a night PP time and spent the majority of his time on the Pettersson line. He was most definitely used as a scoring winger. I’m not saying there weren’t curious decisions made with him but he was given ample opportunity to improve. He didn’t.

    * Granlund and Gaudette didn't spent much time centring him at ES.
    * Gaudette 119:49 (42.01 PP)
    * Granlund 99:55 ( 39:28 PP)

    Draft picks and prospects is a volume game, we didn't have anywhere near enough tickets from trades.

    Dang, I was at least hoping another team would take a chance on Goldy. I feel like he has something to give to this league.

    I'm sure if Goldy was on waivers he would be picked up.

    Agreed, they've been awful. I'm the last one who will make excuses for this wretched management group.

    Maybe. If it were a busy waiver week I doubt it.
