RNH is only 3 years older, is currently better, and I don't expect Ehlers to improve substantially. I would take RNH

Ehlers. Still has unlocked potential
Has some of the best skates in the game
And is younger

Wouldnt mind having rnh on the jets, but I wouldnt want the jets to give ehlers up for the rnh

Ehlers, puts up similar points, has elite speed, and tilts the ice more than Nuge making him better defensively.

Stats taken from the RNH for Ehlers trade thread

Interesting that Ehlers has 'much' better offensive stats but worse "Ind Exp Goal". There's also a reason he has 99th percentile QualTeammates (Excluding Helle/Talbot):

EhlersVSNUGE
Laine 1354:00Larsson 994:10
Byfuglien1179:12Lucic 865:07
Scheifele 1174:00Russell855:01
Little 1172:22Klefbom 822:25
Morrissey1144:13Nurse813:10
Wheeler 989:31Eberle638:27
Trouba918:55Benning626:15
[TBODY] [/TBODY]
Next on Nuge's list is McDavid with 5:14.34 TOI together.... (included so I don't seem biased or misleading, 514TOI is not an insignificant amount)

Lastly, the fact that Nuge has 2600min played in your chart compared to Ehlers 2800min, but his highest TOI teammates (except the goalie obviously) is 400min less than Ehlers, indicates he plays with a lot more people. More linemates, worse linemates, worse goalie, and similar QOC - it's not overly surprising that his SKATR chart looks way worse. Doesn't mean Ehler's is a whole tier above like the chart is trying to show. His most common forward linemates over your time period are Lucic and Eberle, neither of whom play any kind of defense.

EDIT - your second charts have NUGE toi at 283. Is that cut off or a typo?

Nuge has nearly double the points, while being better defensively, and a center. This isn’t even remotely close
Ehlers destroys RNH in all possession metrics. So not sure where better defensively is coming from. 'Double the points', well RNH also played 15 more games, has only 2 more goals and is having the best season of his career offensively. Can't argue that he is a centre though lol.

Ehlers by a slim margin.

Response to the bottom bold. I'm actually not sure but my guess is a typo. It Was originally posted yesterday by @Whileee.

If your stats are telling you Ehlers and Pasta are top 5 defensive players you need to change your methods

My stats aren't telling me anything as I don't have any ;) The stats I posted are from Micah Blake McCurdy who talks a bit about why Pasta is on there if you read it.

2 players I really like. I think for the next 3-4 years it’ll clearly be RNH, after that I think it’ll shift to Ehlers. Makes sense as RNH is preforming better right now, and Ehlers is 3 years younger.

Not performing better

One's just injured

I am well aware unfortunately, have him in fantasy and turned down a good trade 2 days before he went on the IR.

But I do think this season, RNH has preformed better. He’s one of 3 Oilers forwards, who has impressed this year.

Would love to see him include quality of teammates or quality of opposition in that analysis. Last time I checked Ehlers was playing on a top 3 Western Conference team the past 3 years while playing heavily sheltered minutes.

It's on there, last few of the SKATR chart. Definitely hasn't been sheltered this season.

I know they weren't yours, I was just speaking generally to those types of statistical analyses, and to how much stock to put in them for this poll. I'll check it out, but I have serious doubts there aren't issues of not being able to separate a player from his linemates/competition, or not acknowledging the type of minutes their linemates are playing without them.
