Danault’s offensive instincts are very limited. That’s why you don’t put him on your top 2 lines. You could never win a cup with Danault on the 1st or 2nd C.

Sure you could. If the Habs had Josi and Ekholm instead of Kulak and Folin, and if Drouin played to his capability as shown in the first 55 games this season, they could have been contenders this year. The league is wide open.

With good puck moving D, we could add 5 points to each of the top two centers, if not more. With your 1C scoring 75+, a 2C at 55+, with a HoF goalie and a strong D and depth at wing could easily work.

Pretty sure he proved the first line of your post wrong yet again this season. The comments of his draft year seemingly can’t be shaken. He’s proved he can pick up points. He had more even strength points this season than Toews has ever had in one season. He’s not flashy but he’s a very very intelligent player.

If he had offensive instincts he would have 70 points. But he doesn’t and never will. He’s a 3rd line center. If he’s a top 6 center on your team you are in trouble. Comparing him to Toews is ludicrous.

The NHL game is played on the ice and all that matters is results.

You know who has offensive instincts? Nikita Scherbak, Corey Locke, Nigel Dawes, Anthony Duclair, Mark Barberio, and many, many more.

Do you know who gets results in the NHL? Philip Danault, Andrew Shaw, Paul Byron, Jordy Benn.

Yeah fun fact, Jordy Benn not only outscores Mark Barberio, but he actually had more ES points this year than PK Subban.

But just for my understanding, are you saying that every top-6 center must score 70 points in your books, or is 70 points just the number necessary to overcome your pre-judgment about players?

Will Suzuki need to score 70 points to be considered an offensive player?

Suzuki will actually need to score 100 points, just to lay to rest the concerns about his size and effort level ;)

The motor of the Guelph Storm. When it aint functional (himself). The whole engine (team) stops driving. All of a sudden.

Suzuki is tearing it up. Not too concerned about him not being able to bring it when intensity ramps up. He clearly has a target on his back and yet he's stilll getting it done.
There's intensive marking on him. Being incessantly tag by the whole adversary. That's foreseeable. Tricks on his hat aren't finished yet.

Do you believe that the Habs would make a trade for a kid drafted 2 years ago and not consult Timmins, the guy who scouted him for several years and we signed his teammate McNiven so you know we had eyes on him for more then 2 years.

It's useless to make the effort you are trying to make. Even if you are right, you know the poster will just overlook your statement and keep bleating the same crap as before.

Rarely, if ever, do you see a post on this -- or any sports forum -- along the lines of, "Yeah. Good point. I hadn't seen it like that. Thanks."

It's basically a bunch of folks looking to be right above all else and using a Sports, subject that is, for the most part, entirely subjective so they can't be shot down empirically and without a doubt.

Sad that we have to wade through countless useless posts to read something interesting and refreshing from time to time.
