Langdon and Lochleed left the Dogs for Western now we need two over agers I heard rumblings of Timms from thePetes now that it looks he might comeback to the O

Works for me. Mid round pick with some conditions attached based off of performance should suffice. He’s totally capable of being a PPG defenseman if used properly.

Looking at this situation, Niagara seems to be a team that is built to make a run this coming season towards an Eastern Championship and more. This team had to upgrade their OA's anyway to try to accomplish their end goal of being a top team in the league.
Top teams need top OA players, they need to be #1-2 Dmen or top 6 Forwards.
IMO, they need to obtain better OA candidates than; LD/Lochead- 5g/4ast/9pts & RC/Langdon- 3g/9ast/12pts.
G/Dhillon- with 28+ wins is a keeper!

Two years in USHL and then straight to college, doubt he ever sees a minute of ice in OHL. It was a good long shot pick for value though. Getting his rights in 3rd round is a good attempt at getting a skilled player later than he would have gone if he said he was coming to the league.

So, you are saying it was public knowledge, or, at least scouts knowledge at the time of the draft that he was NOT going to play in the O no matter who selected him?

If, so, that was an error, sorry, a major error in the Scouting as the Ice Dogs didn’t have a second round pick. Would this then be the reasoning behind two of the scouts “moving on” from the Ice Dogs staff?

Yes, this was very well known. he was a clear 1st rounder if he was going OHL. And even still there's guys who say they're goign NCAA but teams still take them high because it's a soft NCAA tie (Perfetti, Stranges, Power, etc) but Halliday has very strong NCAA, which is evident by him going #1 overall in the USHL draft as well, which is why no OHL team took a shot at him in the 2nd round even

Also important to remember that he is American, so that might also be why he values the NCAA so highly

Correct but was born in the states. Which I would guess is largely why he's going USHL->NCAA and not playing in the OHL

So, he wants to play hockey in the US because he was born in the US, yet, he wants to represent Canada in international competition. And, not play in the OHL, or, not play for the Ice Dogs?

Some guys like the NCAA route better. More time for development. Sometimes better ice time out of the gate as well.

It does not seem like there are a ton of 98's out there in the CHL this year though. Even in the WHL it seems like there are not too many.

Oddly enough, the QMJHL has more to offer than usual. Weird because you usually see OHL players going to the QMJHL. Maybe for once you'll see some QMJHL 98's coming to the OHL to fill some OA spots.

It's not a "he doesn't want to play for the Ice Dogs" thing. Just he values the NCAA over the OHL. At this point in his career anyways, could change his mind down the road

Don't bother trying to argue with the London troll. He will always spin this to an anti IceDogs slant no matter what the situation.
