"Irish Blues / Mud the ACAS, why do you keep saying the NHLPA is totally inept and devoid of leadership and ultimately doomed to shoot itself in the foot repeatedly to its own detriment and eventual self-destruction?"

That's pretty insane. Stephen Frank lists himself on his LinkedIn as working for the NHLPA for 17 years, so he would have been hired back in the Goodenow days. He would also have been around back when the union was spying on players' emails.

Seems like he considered himself untouchable and quite likely has witnessed a ton of crap during all the instability over the years. This could get messy.

A quote from the article in the link above

"Following the NHLPA’s move into a new office in downtown Toronto in April 2017, Etherington said he refused to set up a server room in the union’s new work space. He claimed there was a risk of electrocution because high industrial wattage power cables had been left unsecured under the subfloor and were at risk of being submerged under the water if there was a blocked drain pipe.
On Aug. 23 2017, after the server room flooded with water and raw sewage from an executive bathroom, Etherington said he was ordered to clean up the mess but refused to enter the room because of the risk of electrocution."

So this Etherington is a technical support analyst and he's told to clean up the mess that came from the executives bathroom. Lol

No one knew the number for the custodian?

What drama goes on down at the NHLPA.

Sounds crazy, but $4 million in damages for a technical support analyst? Wow. This sounds like it's going to be a real ugly lawsuit. I doubt we hear much about it though.

Yeah you don't do unauthorized purchases of $50k from your girlfriend's company with 35 percent of the sum going as a commission for your girlfriend, the mention of whose name you then try to get removed from all the paperwork coming to your company.

He flooded it out of spite so they told him to clean it up would be my guess.

“The NHLPA is aware that our former employee, Mr. Allan Etherington, has filed a claim containing numerous false statements and groundless and irrelevant allegations against the organization and some of his former colleagues,” the union wrote in a statement to TSN. “We look forward to defending the organization and our staff against these allegations.”

That’s rather strongly worded, bordering on attack language.

Definitely had to take a double take on his name looking a lot like Alan Eagleson.

It’s always hard to evaluate these situations when a disgruntled terminated employee files a lawsuit.

A healthy dose of skepticism is usually the best approach and then see what happens in the courts. Of course more likely then not the whole suit is settled with NDA’s and we never learn anything about the merits.

But they did actually fire Stephen Frank though. So it's not like he's making everything up. If I had to guess his allegations are mostly true, but he's omitting all the parts that make him look bad.

What is it about the NHLPA that causes it to be so consistently unprofessional?

Read again the article, Frank was allowed to resign.
