The thing is its quite similar to Crosby and Ovi. Crosby and Ovi had 1.39 and 1.29 in their first 6 years. Ovi a little lower as expected as he was more of an goalscorer than the other two. Still McDavid should get an advantage if he is healthy the next years as Crosby lost a lot of his peak years to injury in the 7th and 8th season. So that was yeas he produced better than the average that would have kept his ppg higher and he got faster to the years below average that starts to lower his ppg. Pretty much the same distance from Crosby (1.39) to Thornton(1.19) and Malkin(1.19) in points per game as it is from McDavid(1.40) to Kucherov(1.22) and Kane(1.18) in the 6 seasons now. Just that it was another generational player in Crosby's era that was in between.
