The round robin is supposed to determine seeding among the teams with a bye, so they will be playing for something. And the prospect of reseeding AFTER the play in round is on the table as well, so there will be incentive to play hard for everyone.

Phase 2 protocols described.

Testing everyone. Masks must be worn except when exercising (skating on ice, socially distanced work out area). Cleaning, etc.

No date announced. But sometime "early June". Many states have given the go-ahead for athletes to return to team training facilities to work out.

If one of the pods is in Vegas, I'll bet the host casino will erect a practice ice or two in their conference center. That, to me is the best way to keep the team bubbles intact. Driving everyone to Fiesta or LV Ice Center doesn't seem practical, especially given the quality of those facilities. City National is the only NHL-ready practice facility.

My guess is that CNA would be THE practice facility. Say group A (two teams) has the ice from 8-9. Group B 9:30-10:30. Group C 11-12. (Then it could be "open to the public" after that.) (Assuming Orleans arena has nothing happening, they might install ice there for practice too.)

Meanwhile.... Pregame skates 8-8:30, 8:45-9:15, 9:30-10, 10:15-10:45.
(First group has no morning skate) Warmup 11:30-11:45; puck drop 12 (estimated completion 2:30).
Warm up 3:15-3:30. Game start 3:45 (estimated completion 6:15).
Warm up 7; puck drop 7:30 (estimated completion 10pm). If you need to do a 4th game, you eliminate morning skates.

Or something.

That's a pretty tight schedule. The Orleans is a good option, though.
Granger's article has TMobile + five sheets of ice (plus Orleans and MGM Grand)

I might discount the last with MGM reopening next week.

Do realize that any game start before noon requires NHLPA approval. (So that would probably happen in the course of further negotiations).
