very good results if only 2/2000 are infected!

2 positive tests out of ~2600 tests. Out of 800 players (assuming only 2 had positive test results).

Per something I heard on VGK training camp streams, players must have THREE negative tests, 48 apart in the week leading up to heading to hub. (So, today is kinda the last day before everything has to be negative)

MLB falling apart with no bubble. 1/3 of the Marlins roster and two coaches tested positive, and Yankees-Phillies cancelled with an unknown number of cases

Sports and the Minefield of Data and Privacy Issues

To quote:

"Beyond determining whether to permit entry into the venue based on someone's health status, organizations may use fan data for contact tracing or to monitor social distancing onsite.

Some of the people in attendance may be coughing, sneezing or exhibiting other behaviors that could be taken for COVID-19 symptoms. Undoubtedly some fans will report these health-related behaviors and the venues will collect it and have procedures regarding when and how to act on it.

In most of these cases, the federal health privacy law, HIPAA, won't apply because it has a limited scope and is designed to cover health information generated by healthcare providers and health plans. But there are federal and state consumer protection, health privacy, biometric information and public health reporting laws that govern the collection and use of health data by companies across the private sector.

Once teams are handling health information about their fans, failing to properly secure it can lead to data breaches and security-based consumer protection actions. Data breaches can be costly. In addition to the reputation damage they inflict, there are significant costs associated with managing a breach and potentially class actions and civil or criminal penalties."

Changing Landscape Threatens Credit Quality Of U.S. Convention Centers, Arenas, And Stadiums

To quote:

"Permanent Shift In The Large-Crowd Landscape

To date authorities have made adjustments to stabilize operations--including reducing budgets, readying available liquidity, furloughing staff, retiring debt in advance of scheduled maturities, and holding off on new debt or capital plans. However, despite these adjustments we think there is potential for steep pledged-revenue declines at least through next year and likely an unstable revenue climate for many years beyond 2021.

Given the resurgence in cases of COVID-19 in the U.S. and its direct impact on pledged revenue streams, we view market exposure risk for convention center and sports authorities as high; previously it was low to moderate."

Research launched on COVID-19 spread in arenas

To quote:

"Researchers equipped each volunteer with contact tracers to record their routes in the arena and track the path of the aerosols — the small particles that could carry the virus — they emitted as they mingled and talked. Fluorescent disinfectants were used to highlight which surfaces at the mock concert were touched most frequently….

Under the first scenario, which simulated the very beginning of a pandemic, the concert-goers were kept close together in the room with no social distancing. In the second, the researchers instituted hygiene measures and larger social distances between the volunteers. In the third, a distance of 1.5 meters (5 feet) between participants was strictly enforced.

It will take six to eight weeks to analyze the data."

Regardless of study results, many venues cannot be economically viable without 75%+ capacity.

I live in the capital of entertainment and most events are canceled indefinitely (until at least 2021).

PSU football doctor: 30-35 percent of COVID-19-positive Big Ten athletes had myocarditis

To quote:

"“You could have a very high-level athlete who’s got a very superior VO2 max and cardiac output who gets infected with COVID and can drop his or her VO2 max and cardiac output just by 10 percent, and that could make them go from elite status to average status,” Sebastianelli said."

The Latest: 2 NHL teams say several players tested positive

Monday it was announced that four VGK players have tested positive for COVID. Now CBJ also has a number of players in quarantine.

If camp starts circa December 15 (for January 1 start), that means that players need to be in their NHL city circa 12/1 for two week quarantine. My guess is that as soon as player arrives, team is doing testing at least weekly.
