He is injured apparently but he was on the ice for 13 of Vegas 17 goals in the series.... That's bad. But he did lead the team with 9 points in the series.
I agree with you about his worth for his impending $12M/year deal.

So, if you're going by the letter of the law, even though he didn't hit him from behind or in the head, it still was technically a cross-check. And if I'm not mistaken, isn't a 2 minute penalty coupled with an injury normally elevated to 5 minutes?

Technically, yes. The rule is if injured from a cross-check it is a 5 minute major.
I mean, look at this picture, he's definitely hurt. Now, did he get hurt from Eakin or was it from Stastny after the initial Eakin cross-check?

Allowing Eakins goal to count was a much worse call than the major penalty

100% agreed which shows some inconsistency with the reffing and the rule considering it was Eakin that got the 5.
Regardless, Vegas was up 3-1 in the series, 3-0 in the game and had loads of chances to put it away. 4 goals on the 5v4 doesn't deserve to win.
