Killorn 24-5-5-10 -6

Cirelli 25-3-6-9 -5

Johnson - 25-4-3-7 -6

Debrusk 13-4-0-4 -3

Krejci 13-4-8-12 -5

Kase 11-0-4-4 -1

Doesn't look like Tampa's 2nd line was any better than the Bruins
Tbay has Hedman and McDonaugh that played better than any of our dee.
Add Sergachev and that is why they won the Cup.
It all starts with your goalie and dee.
We had two really good shutdown dee in Chara and Seids when we won the cup, sprinkle in JB and AF and add in Kaberle, thats a great dee too.
The 2021 B's have a number one in Mac, a three in Carlo, MG a 4 and the rest mostly 6's.
I think Vaak /Lauzon and Zboril are an intersting trio. With a bit of luck we get at least one of these to be a 3-4.
We badly need a #2.

I’m talking head to head in that series, none of the other series matter for this point, I don’t know the numbers off hand but I’d bet in comparison Tampa’s 3rd like was very close to our second
Killorn 5-2-1-3
Cirelli 5-1-1-2
Johnson 5-0-2-2
Debrusk 5-1-0-1
Krejci 5-1-2-3
Kase 5-0-0-0
Kase was the only one that really played poorly that series. Also all of Killorn's points came in 1 game.
Also here is what the third line looked like
Gourde 5-1-2-3
Coleman 5-2-2-4
Goodrow 5-0-1-1
So Tampa's 3rd line actually outplayed their 2nd.

I look at the D this year as a building year. We got rid of 2 specialists in Chara and Krug and hopefully adding 2 more rounded players. I think they want to find who plays well with Mac and Carlo. I think this year will be a telling year for those 2 since they won't have to carry a burden all game.

I will miss Chara, however, we have to give Vaak/Lauzon/Zboril the chance to show us what they have.
Lauzon from what I have watched will stick, is good defensively. I want him to improve on his skating, which is just okay.
Vaak has the most upside, in my opinion but has to add some bulk to get to 195-200 lbs, without losing any foot speed.
Zbroil played very well in Providence, has nothing more to prove there.

If you want to make a comparison based on just those 5 games, the biggest difference in production was between first lines.

Marchand-Bergeron-Pastrnak 6-7-13

Palat-Point-Kucherov 8-14-22

yep they were no shows too and that’s on them for various reasons but the point is we have no second line players outside of krejci who has been given nothing to work with in the last 5 years . There were moves that could have been made to fix major holes in the second line and the d that weren’t , any 2 of kase smith and debrusk are not a viable combination for The second line if we want to be a serious contender . One of them with krejci and a proven scorer sure . So what were the head to head numbers of our second line vs Tampa’s in the series ?

You're asking so I'm answering.

Pastrnak/Lauzon for Laine/Morrisey
That is tempting, because JM is a much better dee than Lauzon.
The unknown is what Laine wants on his next deal. I cannot see him siging for anything less than 8 million.
We got a team discount with Pasty's contract. If I am trading him, I take advantage of this, big time.
The only other contract I can is as team friendly is MacKinnon.
I would prefer,
Pasty/Lauzon and JDB for
Laine/JM and Ehlers.

Pretty much proves my point , we don’t have a second line . Our second line got out played by a contenders third

With the smurfs
That lineup has Pasta filling the “second line winger problem” - the narrative is strong in here.

I don’t love the lineup and until we know Chara’s plans the defense is frightening. But if we’re starting the move on to the kids mode then I get it. Their “big” acquisitions through trade and free agency have been at forward and role players and guys under 25 with high ceilings. That looks to me like a transitionary strategy.

The defense is deep but soooo young
21 year old Vaakaneinen
22 year old McAvoy
22 year old Lauzon
22 year old Zboril
23 year old Carlo
24 year old Clifton
26 year old Grzlyeck

...and will have zech and Ahcan knocking on the door pretty soon as well. We can knock on Kevan Miller all you want, but there needs to be an adult in the room and that guy is nails.

Unlike many, I like the D and the potential.

All young, fast, improving and cheap.

Couple of vets for depth if needed for 3rd pair in Miller-Moore-Kampfer.

Much better D group than people are making it out to be.

Once the season starts, it will prove many wrong.

That’s the scary part I think they would produce less without a centre like krejci coyle
I thought for sure when they said they might shake up things he’d be the guy they would move.

Right or wrong. It’s been 5 years and they can’t find anyone that can be consistent with him

Man all these book it I see here is paying me quite well. We all know I'm charging 8 % royalty fees when you guys type it. Many thanks don the godfather .

It is ironic. It would have helped if one of the 237 had been correct and not just ramblings, lol 0/237. I'm thinking its time to bet against your odds and books to make some money.

So I looked into again and game 3 was the difference between the 2 lines. You take out that game and they both put up 4 points a piece while their 3rd line put up 5 points. So in the end neither truly outplayed them besides that 1 horrible game.

how many times in the past though have we said “ debrusk krejci ______ sounds like a solid line “ It’s not working it’s time to find a legit second line ,not plug in 3rd liners and hope it works

Five years and counting of that crap narrative. I honestly would apologize to Krejci every year when the season ends. I wonder how many times the management has lied to his face about getting him scoring help...

You are entitled to your opion and I to mine.

Every playoff time lately Bergeron has groin problems, Krecji always has some kind of issue, Pasta and Marcand look worn out due to minutes played. Did you not watch Tampa turn it on at will and we had no response. Kase, Debrusk or Ritchie are not going to fill the void if a couple of theses players have issues again.

On defense McAvoy seems to have knee issues and they are always a concern operation or not. I remember a pretty good defenseman that practically played on 1 knee a lot of the time which sure shortened his career.

The rest of the defense has not improved with Krug and Chara parting ways. The kids may turn out okay but not immediately.

We can only hope for another good season, but DS did not accomplish much this offseason.

Well said.

Every year the 1st line is worn down, the second line (actually a 3rd line, Boston runs a 1st line, two 3rd lines and a 4th line) dries up in scoring, the third line gives you 3-4 goals a series (1-2 from the 4th line) and the first line is neutralized. Rinse. Repeat.

Imagine the sentiment here if Columbus didn't do the Bruins a favour and eliminate their 'daddy' in Tampa Bay in 2018-2019? Would have been three years in a row being spanked by Tampa Bay. Then maybe some of the Sweeney Swingers would be more critical of the situation in the top six.
