Gaudreau, when he’s on, is a country mile better than any of these players. Yeah he had a bad year and HF hates him but like come on...

Blake Wheeler had back-to-back 91 point seasons, followed by a "drop off" to 75 point pace last season. He elevates his linemates, and can play C or wing.

Hall has had only one truly great season (Hart win in 17-18), and Gaudreau brings far less to the table outside of his scoring.

Wheeler, Giroux, and Kopitar should be next up, in my mind.

Same can be said for Giroux. Giroux has had three seasons better than JG's best.

Don't know about that. Gaudreau's best season is arguably as good/comparable to any of Giroux's. Hart voting is better for Giroux - but that's a question of competition in given year, if you compare across years I certainly wouldn't have Gaudreau's last among those 4, or at least they're comparable.

It's true Giroux has 3 to 1 - but Gaudreau was better in the past 2 seasons (though both disappointing last year).
Giroux is also 33 now, so might be slowing down.
Also - although Gaudreau certainly is disappointing in playoffs lately - Giroux was quite bad himself last year.

Going into this season I'd rank Gaudreau above Giroux for those reasons.

Hall was given Giroux's MVP recently**

In 2018 - my top 3 for Hart voting would have been McDavid, Kucherov and MacKinnon. Quite frankly I'd have had all of Hall, Giroux and Kopitar finish lower than they did.
