So Tavares from the Leafs takes 28th after another high offense season from him. Keeps doing it and probably for several more seasons. Anyways 29th is NEXT and from now on will be making it so ya cant switch who ya vote for so hopefully reduces the chances of fans of larger fanbases from piling on the votes to get their guy in.

These rankings based on who is the best forward NOW. Not 2 years ago not in the future but if the season were to start today how would we rank em?

Gaudreau is 5th in even strength points since he entered the league. Only behind Kane, Crosby, Kucherov, and McDavid, all of whom play with better players. Also has two top 10 scoring finishes.

Might have to start to question the collective wisdom of this purported "hockey forum" if he can't crack a top 30 forward list.

Don't expect much from the polls section of HFBoards  I know better.

Every player has a bad season eventually. The year before he was 4th in Hart voting and had 99 points. And again is 5th in even strength production since entering the league, even after a bad season. He has 61 more career pts than Zibanejad in 84 less games. But HF loves its centers.

I think it's more that HF loves recency bias. Plus, there's always homer voters, and NYR are probably one of the biggest fanbases on this forum.

That's what the OP says :

If you have faith that Gaudreau will rebound to what he was before last season, then you vote him. You can make arguments for Gaudreau and it's fine but overall career is not an argument in this NOW poll.

Zibanejad was an absolute monster last season, normal that people voted him above as they expect this to carry on to the immediate future. For Gaudreau, most people will wait to see how he bounces back. But he will be voted soon anyway, nothing wrong with that. If you're a ~ Top-30 NHL forward, you're pretty much among the elite.

There are some really good players still left on the list. It's not like Gaudreau is being left off in favor of 2nd and 3rd liners.
