Didn’t this used to take place during the playoffs? When we got first overall that was during intermission wasn’t it?

I’m actually happy for Ottawa, they’ve been dealing with enough crap.

They came out it ahead. Great choice taking Tkachuk

Turris+4th overall for 1 1/2 years of Duchene didn't seem worth it.

That being said, Brady Tkachuk is probably more desirable then anything you'd get 4th overall in this years draft. My 2 cents.

They moved it this year to it's own night. Everyone recognized that the days in between season playoffs were the right days.

They want it done with before the U18's start this weekend, especially the scouts.

It’s funny I didn’t even realize it was taking place, feels good.

Never enough crap for that team, sorry.
The only time I'll be happy for them would be if they go belly up or move to Deadhorse, Alaska.

Ottawa dodged a bullet.
Lost the lottery all 3 times.

It was actually Turris, Bowers, 4th overall and a 3rd. Considering Bowers was the 28th overall pick from the year before, and Duchene has never really shown that he can be more than a 2C even on a mediocre team, that's a pretty significant price to pay.

How many horseshoes does Shero have up his ***? Two lottery wins in three years is unbelievable.

Forget Shero, what about Taylor Hall? Teams he's been on, have won the lottery 5 times out of the last nine years. Six of 10, if you include when he was drafted. He's like the draft lottery whisperer, rabbits foot. That being said... it also suggest that he's been on a lot of bad teams.

Any chance we try to get back into the draft? We have a lot of arb-eligible young forwards who we probably can't all pay.

Technically they didn't win the 2011 draft. They held on to 1 because Jersey could only move up 4 spots. So, he's been on the winning team in 2012, 2015, 2017 and 2019. It's still ridiculous run of luck.

I think if they do opt to move any of them it’ll be for a cost controlled D man rather than picks.

Anything could happen but I’m not expecting the Leafs to draft in the 1st round this year

I'm not expecting us to pick before the 2nd

Doesn't make a ton of sense if your in "win now mode"

2007 Sharks
2008 Flyers
2008 Flames
2010 Bruins
2010 Blackhawks
2011 Bruins
2011 Flyers
2011 Blackhawks
2012 Penguins
2012 Capitals
2013 Canucks

All "win now mode" teams acquiring 1st rounders for young talent they can't afford or fit, often in seasons where they traded their own 1st rounder, and often higher than the pick they traded

Still hitting me that we don’t have a 1st rounder this year.

Not complaining, but this years draft will be quite anticlimactic compared to previous years.....
