1. I don't feel like I have Kasper too low. He is only possible from rank 14. The players selected before him corresponded better to the needs of the franchises when I did the analyses.

2. A hunch. I thought Detroit would go for a Center profile player. With Snuggerud, Detroit would get a very effective player in the defensive game alongside players like Raymond or Zadina. There are practically no centers of this profile there in the top 15 of my board. According to my logic, indeed I could have put Kasper but I find Snuggerud's skills more accentuated in the puckless game.

Yeah I like Kasper to DET pretty much exactly because of what you stated

I must admit that Kasper rather than Snuggerud makes more sense. But I was looking for something illogical, with a team stuck on something specific. Things that happen with every draft.

Anyway this is only a first simulation. I will continue this mock as the eliminations progress but on the eve of the draft, I will make the final mock.

PS : the board will be edited if big revelation (about injury). As a Montreal fan, there are a few influences.
I want your opinion on Mayer?

117 so like all players ranked between 65 and 128, must prove himself but it will be difficult to integrate the NHL without big progress.

He is a player that I saw played at the start of the year without really having seen him play. I only have 2 games seen from him without it being him that I observed. I would be lying if I said that I had seen all the players on the list, especially carefully and regularly. My vision is very specific at the top of the list and then gets diluted. It's more of a value estimate based on profile analysis. There are some players at the bottom of the list that I've seen play a lot but that's because they were on the same team as top players. Not so with Mayer. In his team I just watched Tucker Robertson on a few games.

However Mayer has a very interesting profile with an imposing size, a clearly positive presence on the ice in a team where practically all the players are negative and much better stats than Zanetti and Guryev, selected in the 4th and 5th rounds.

He clearly has an interesting profile to occupy the 117th place in my board. It will depend on the scouts, whether or not he is in a team's top 50, otherwise he can slip very low and be an even more interesting choice.

A player who comes out of nowhere with such a performance should necessarily attract the attention of those who observe the OHL. Chances of being drafted are close to 100%.

Impressive that you can rank that many players. I agree with much of your "2nd round"--think Furlong deserves to be there, Hamara,, Salin, and Duda are top 50 talents, bold ranking for Guindon but he has more upside than most in that range.

It's a job that I start a long time before. I've already started for the end of the decade drafts.

I'm learning to rate players - even players I've never seen.

Then there is the case of players like Murashov or Ivanov, whom I have known for years but whom I have not seen play this year. I know what they represent in Russia.

The 2nd round is on the other hand very well thought out.

Cedrick Guindon played in a rather weak team, where the best are U18s. This is the player profile that can explode on an offensive top 6. Rather than going to a physical player with a shut-down defender or defensive attacker profile from the 2nd round, I prefer to place him there.

My list tries to vary the profiles. Hutson behind Bichsel for example, Bystedt ahead of Ostlund. Guindon already comes after a series of reassuring physical attackers who can do the trick on a 3rd line.

On the board of Montreal like any NHL team, very little chance that Guindon will be my choice in the 2nd round. There will likely be a higher ranked player who slips. Jordan Dumais or Rieger Lorenz for example. Usually a 49th ranked player is selected in the 3rd-4th round so I don't have any issues with that regarding my ranking.

It's just that the other players ranked after him would fall into other teams.

If a team selects Guindon 2nd round I will be comfortable with that as long as it makes sense with the context.

Teams that fail are those that profile by focusing on a narrow selection of players without considering other players.

I think the best way to understand a draft is to draw up a global list by prioritizing the players according to what is analyzed in the recruitment team and the profiles sought but without turning a blind eye to any player. All players should be considered.

Otherwise, the opposing team does the stealing, not your team.

I listen to a lot of podcasts from people who spend their lives on it; credible guys who know their stuff. However I also have my own opinion when I know the player well. In general, for top 32 players I go with my feelings. For example, I absolutely disagree with those who criticize Jiricek and Kemell. I think they misanalyzed some things. Be careful not to focus on fake good hockey players. Those who skate well, who drive the puck, engage physically but bring nothing favorable compared to a player who is not very mobile, not very physical, touches the puck little but is able to make a difference in its role with workers, game makers.
