It's simple,
1. Create an NHL.com account or log-in with a pre-existing account.
2. By using the official website or mobile app, answer three (3) daily questions of a predictive nature about NHL games played during that day.
3. Play frequently enough and make the correct picks to earn Hat Tricks and Points to climb the world leaderboard
NOTE: Prizes are only attainable based off standings in the world leaderboard. League play does not count, and is only used for bragging rights.
Regular Season Contest: (Oct. 1, 2015 - April 9, 2016)
Prizes:
1st Place: $20,000
2nd Place: Trip for two (2) to the Stanley Cup Final (Game 2, Game 3, or Game 4 as chosen by sponsor)
(25) Weekly Prizes: NHL Game Tickets (you get to choose 2 tickets from 4 possible games chosen by sponsor, or a $300 Gift Card to shop.nhl.com)
1st Place is earned by placing first in the leaderboard at the end of the contest. If tied, you are placed in a drawing with all others tied for 1st. If you lose the drawing, you are placed in a drawing for the 2nd place prize.
2nd Place is earned by placing second in the leaderboard at the end of the contest. If tied, you are placed in a drawing with all others tied for 2nd. If you lose the drawing, you get nothing. Good day sir.
There are 25 weeks in the Regular Season contest, all hat tricks earned during each week count as 1 entry into a drawing. The winner of the random drawing each week will win the respective prize.
Playoff Contest: (Conference Quarterfinals - Final Stanley Cup Final Game)
Prizes:
1st Place: $10,000
1st Place is earned by placing first in the leaderboard at the end of the contest. If tied, you are placed in a drawing with all others tied for 1st. If you lose the drawing, you get nothing. Good day sir.
Playoff Round Contest: (Conference Quarterfinals, Conference Semifinals, Conference Finals, Stanley Cup Final)
Prizes:
(4) Playoff Round Prizes: (1) custom NHL jersey per round (choice of favorite team or favorite player, a $200 value)
There are 4 Playoff rounds in the Playoff contest, all hat tricks earned during each round count as 1 entry into a drawing. The winner of the random drawing each round will win the respective prize.
NOTES:
As of this posting the contest is already 4 days in progress, so at most you are 12 points behind. However it's still very possible to knock out the leader if you are very lucky, skilled and make good picks.
Also, it is unclear or unknown if there are any ways to cheat or bypass picks using some unknown algorithms, hacks or otherwise. (which disqualifies you anyway if detected) Currently it seems to be an even playing field aside from the fact you COULD play with multiple accounts to increase the drawing pool chances or make every possible pick combination to ensure a hat trick (but it is to assume as per stated in the rules, that NHL.com is monitoring all types of this behavior, so it is best to only play with one account)
Winners are notified by email and MUST have the entry form fully complete to be acceptable as a winner.
