A great way to honor old great players would be to name an award for each great player who had the best season at a certain age.

Obviously we are not goignt oname a trophy after a player if he had his peak season at age 23.

Let say anyone over the age of 30.

Lets use Mario Lemieux for an example of a great player who had a great season at age 30. He scored the most goals for a 30 yr old.

You could run the gambit right up to age 40.

Also I the sophomore (2nd season) of the yr award should be an award.

Most improved player of the yr award

Best 10 yr vet Best 20 yr vet

any other ideas?

Not really a fan of any of those awards.

Only award that could be useful is a "Gretzky" Trophy, where it goes to the player with the most assists.

Not everything needs to be recognized, rated, ranked, or otherwise "officially" noted...despite what everyone around here thinks.

I figured it would be a way to recognize players and let them ad more career hardware

If more players are adding more career hardware, then the hardware gets devalued, and the "real" trophies become worthless.

Might as well give every player a "Participation" ribbon.
