I compiled this list using the NHL Official Guide and Record Book for 2005.

My name on a few other forum's is Gambit, that's why it says compiled by Gambit.

If interested, I can send you the spreadsheet format of it as well. :)

And the winning percentages are all wrong. Montreal has a w% of .590 if you ignore the OTL points except for last years 4.

The order and W% should be:

Montreal - 0.592
Philadelphia - 0.582
Boston - 0.553
Edmonton - 0.544
Buffalo - 0.543
Calgary - 0.526
Detroit - 0.522
Colorado - 0.521
St. Louis - 0.516
Toronto - 0.508
NY Islanders - 0.507
NY Rangers - 0.497
Dallas - 0.492
Washington - 0.489
Chicago - 0.488
Minnesota - 0.486
Pittsburgh - 0.478
Los Angeles - 0.473
Ottawa - 0.472
Florida - 0.471
Phoenix - 0.466
Anaheim - 0.464
New Jersey - 0.463
Vancouver - 0.455
Nashville - 0.454
Carolina - 0.453
San Jose - 0.441
Tampa Bay - 0.417
Columbus - 0.395
Atlanta - 0.372

I agree that OTL points shouldn`t be counted- throws everything out of whack. Imagine howscrewed up these charts would be if they ever adopt the three points for a win proposal.

How many of you would`ve predicted Buffalo to be in the Top 5?

That's amazing to see the Sabres in the top 5...I wouldn't have thought the top 12

I guess the Sabres ahve always had a consitently solid team, from the French Connection, to Scotty Bowmans teams to the Hasek years...Good for the City, they deserve a winner with all of their great fans.

Nope.

You are wrong.
If you can offer a "points percentage" formula that they used to get their numbers that actually would give those numbers, I'd agree. Since you "don't do math", and are only saying I'm wrong because the numbers are straight from the Guide, I don't. The Guide numbers are wrong.

6561 points in 5546 games = 0.592 not 0.590.
Dropping the 26 OTL points = 0.589 not 0.590.
