My 7 year old nephew just called me to talk about how awesome that last platform thing was.

Something to keep in mind as we sit here complaining about it on the internet.

As I said in another thread. I remember as a kid going two years to the Flames skills comp. I think the ticket that my dad got was $11. It was the best thing ever. Even the puck on a string by Jim Peplinski.

Adults can be too cynical, myself included.

I just want to point out that posters here actually turned an All Stars skill competition thread into an argument about salary differences between men and women. Won't comment on it any further, just thought that was a funny little fact you can share with friends and family.

Some people are just miserable. They go in knowing they are going to hate it just to complain about it later. It's sad.

These guys are pros. I wanna see them actually compete in a skills competition. Not shake their proverbial asses for the camera in this weird pageant the NHL had put on.

The league has tried it.

Goalie shooting - Real boring
Passing Accuracy - Super boring
Rapid Fire - Probably the best one removed (I assume because of potential goalie injury)
Breakaway Relay - Not bad (Again, assume because of potential goalie injury)

In all honesty, what would you like them to do? What other hockey skills that you've seen aren't represented?

Overall I enjoyed the Skills Competition. I look forward to my nephew getting a little older and being able to watch it with him.

1. Theres no way this actually happened.

2. If it did, your nephew would be completely wrong.

Hardest shot.
Fastest skater.
Shooting accuracy.
Rapid fire penalty shots.

The rest is awful.

Hardest one timers and or one timer accuracy shooting.

Maybe a 5on3 event

Real hockey things would be nice.

Close and lock all the gates. Throw a briefcase with a million dollars at Center ice. No sticks, gloves, helmets, shoulder pads or jerseys. Whoever can leave the ice surface with the money keeps it.
Do the audience members get to participate?
