NEW YORK RANGERS (2) vs. WASHINGTON CAPITALS (3)

1st Round, 2029 Stanley Cup Playoffs
The Rangers and the Capitals meet in the Stanley Cup Playoffs again, a new addition to a storied Cap-Era Playoff Rivalry with the last addition coming on the Rangers 2026 Run, which ended in a Cup Finals loss.
The Rangers, who finished 2nd in the Metro following a run unlike many seen before (Senators Hamburglar Run comes to mind), have home-ice advantage against the Capitals.

ZIBANEJAD ANNOUNCES RETIREMENT FROM NHL

2029 Offseason
In an unexpected turn of events, Mika Zibanejad has announced his retirement from the NHL.
It was though perhaps the 36-year old may request a trade heading into the final season of his contract, but he has decided to call it quits despite a solid season on the 3rd line for the Rangers.
Zibanejad, playing in 1244 career games, scored 421 times and finished with 980 career points.

LAMBERT RE-SIGNS FOR 4-YEARS, $10M
2029 Offseason
Similar to Jesperi Kotkaniemi signing his 1-year offer followed by a cheaper extension, Brad Lambert has followed.
Coming off a 1-year $3M pact in which Lambert completed his first NHL season at 25, he re-ups with New York for 4 years and a $2.5M AAV.
There seemingly is now an open spot in the top-6, with Zibanejad retiring and Panarin declining and in the final season of his contract, and it will be up to Lambert to steal it from leading scorer last season Zach Benson.

TOEWS, COMRIE JOIN RANGERS ON 1-YEAR DEALS

2029 Free Agent Frenzy
The Rangers had some unexpected Cap Space to play with following the retirement of Assistant Captain Mika Zibanejad, and they used it to address a hole on their backend.
Devon Toews, 35, joins the Rangers after stints with the Islanders, Avs and now Sharks. Coming off a career high 59-point season, the veteran joins the Rangers on a 1-year deal worth $8.5M dollars. Not that anyone is counting, but that was Mika Zibanejads exact salary cleared after his retirement with 1-year left on his deal.
Also joining New York is Eric Comrie to replace the departed UFA Dylan Garand. Comrie, 34, backed up in Boston last season, going 11-6-1 with a .905 SV%.

RANGERS ACQUIRE KALIYEV FROM CANUCKS FOR 3RD ROUND PICK

2029 Offseason
To fill the vacated hole on the 3RW slot, the Rangers have acquired 28-year old Arthur Kaliyev.
The sniper, drafted 33rd overall in 2019, scored just 16 goals last season for the Canucks after leaving the team that drafted him, the Kings, the past offseason.
He enters the 2nd and final season of his contract, which pays him $2.540M this season before he is UFA this summer.

RANGERS MAKE ASSISTANT COACHING CHANGE, BRING IN BOCHENSKI

2029 Offseason
Jonah Redmond, assistant coach in charge of the powerplay, has retired just 1-year into his 3-year contract with the Rangers.
New Yorks powerplay was abysmal this past season, and that was likely the culprit of many of their star forwards down seasons as a 10% drop in PP% hurts production.
Hired to replace him is PP specialist Mateo Bochenksi, signing a 2-year deal.

Hey guys, ended up getting fired after losing in 2nd round, so going to start a new GM mode.

May be with the Rangers, doing a different twist as if this current season goes off the rails and we end up with Bedard.

I've also created a team names the Halifax Vikings and am considering them as an option for a 33 team expansion concept.

I've also considered a full teardown of Vancouver.

Wow, pretty unforgiving owner, considering your previous sustained success! Haha! You'd think you'd get a bit more rope.

All 3 of those ideas sound like intriguing options and get the thumbs up from me

For real...I was shocked, although probably pretty realistic unintentionally by EA

Won Presidents Trophy upset in 1st round and followed that up with a 2nd round exit and still didn't fire coach...so unforgiving but I suppose would be true of an impatient owner like Dolan.

So true. Basically like "I don't care you won 2 Cups in 4 years (and 4 consecutive Finals appearances!) You've been an early out two years in a row now, you're fired!"

Ridiculous.

But looking forward to the next batch of posts all the same :)

Nashville Predators Franchise Mode

News from the Nashville Predators front office!

On this date 5th of February, Nashville Predators have announced that David Poile has stepped away from GM position and Jesse has been named as the team's new General Manager. Previously Jesse has been working as HIFK of Liiga´s General Manager. Poile will continue as Nashville's President of Hockey Operations.
GM Jesse will be only the 2nd European general manager in the NHL, after fellow finnish native and CBJ General Manager, Jarmo Kekalainen. Jesse told that he is very honoured and also excited for this role, and that he is very poised and commited to bringing Nashville their first ever Stanley Cup.

Nashville hold record of 23-22-4 (50pts) and its good for only 11th in Western Conference. (6th in Central)

3.16/3.18 15%/90.8%

Ageing group is in desperate need for some changes and a clear vision where they are heading as a team.

First move as General Manager, only 2 days after the news broke, Jesse dealt F Mark Jankowski (47GP, 4+4=8pts -1) to Minnesota Wild, for their 2023 5th round pick. Minnesota (29-17-2) are loading up for the playoffs.

After that, he recalled Philip Tomasino from Milwaukee (AHL 43GP, 11+23=34pts -8), and he's starting on 3rd line (+2nd line PP), with Tanner Jeannot and Yakov Trenin.

On the other news, Toronto are out of the playoffs spot right now. They hold record of 25-24-3, and are 6th in Atlantic. New Jersey Devils also having disappointing season so far, they are currently 7th on Metro, with only 47pts.

New York Rangers are on top of the standings, with 76pts. Colorado are second with 70pts, and Hurricanes 3rd with 68pts.

Arizona (42pts), Seattle (42pts) and Columbus (44pts) are at the bottom of the league.

These are the lines after GM change in Nashville.

First game under GM Jesse, Nashville takes important win over Vegas, 2-0. Duchene scored both goals, and Saros stopped all 21 shots.

Duchene and Johansen switched center positions after 2-4-1 record, after GM change.

Trade Deadline is now 6 days away. GM Jesse is in tough spot. He needs to make the decision whether Nashville will push for playoffs or start selling at the Trade Deadline. They are 4pts behind wild card spot (STL).

Luckily for GM Jesse, Nashville doesn´t have any big names with ending contracts. D Dante Fabbro is RFA after the season, and G Kevin Lankinen has been decent this season, but is easily replacable, if they don´t get an agreement on the new contract.

At the moment, Nashville holds 9 draft picks for the upcoming 2023 NHL Entry Draft. 1 1st, 1 2nd, and 2 3rd, 4th and 5th round picks. If they decide not to push for playoffs, I would imagine they would like to add another 1st/2nd round pick.

Heading into trade deadline, the top names available are:F P.Kane, F R.O´Reilly, D R.Ellis, F T.Bertuzzi and F A.Copp.

NHL Trade Deadline is here!

First big trade of the evening was made between Detroit and LA Kings. Detroit send F T.Bertuzzi to Kings, for 2 2nd round picks, and F T.Madden. Minutes after that, Buffalo announced that they have acquired F A.Wennberg from Seattle, for 2nd and 3rd round picks.

Preds rookie GM Jesse has been fairly quiet in his first Trade Deadline, until now. Preds announced that they have traded F R.Johansen to Anaheim, for 2023 2nd round pick (COL), and forward prospect B.King. Hour after that, TSN trade deadline coverage announced about trade between the Dallas Stars and Nashville Predators. Stars sends away F L.Stankoven, and Preds trades F C.Glass. I think that these trades show, what direction GM Jesse is taking Nashville franchise. Although Preds still have strong D and G core to work with.

Minnesota wild acquires one of the best two-way forwards in the game, Jonathan Toews from Chicago. Price for (propably rental) Toews was 2nd and 3rd round draft picks, and F R.O´Rourke.
Minutes before Trade Deadline closes, Nashville and Edmonton finalised deal for F Z.Sanford. Edmonton also got 2023 3rd round pick (SJS). Nashville acquired 2024 2nd round pick (TOR).

In the other trades, New Jersey got F A.Copp, and Colorado acquired F M.Domi.
P.Kane, R´Oreilly and R.Ellis stayed in their respectable teams.

At the trade deadline mark Nashville hold´s record of 27-28-5.

Rest of the 2022-2023 season

After trade deadline, next 10 games Nashville had record of 7-3-0, and sits 9th in Western Conference (5th on Central), only 1 point behind wild card team Dallas Stars.

Only 12 games left on the season for Nashville, can they clinch the Playoffs even tho they were sellers at the trade deadline.
3.09/3.01 PP-15.6 %/PK-88.6 %

It is a bitter end to Nashville Predators season. They miss the Playoffs by 4 points. Losses to Minnesota and Dallas at the final few games were too much, as they finish 21st in the NHL.

39-37-6 (84points) 3.00/2.98 PP-16.1%/PK-87.3%

AHL team Milwaukee Admirals season ended also before the Playoffs. Admirals missed them by 1 point.
Record for Admirals was 36-26-10.
Markus Nurmi led the team with 72GP 23+32=55P.
Joakim Kemell 72GP 15+21=36P earned 3rd most points inside team.
Yaroslav Askarov had good first season in the North America.
He posted record of 52GP 27W 20L 4OTL (90,4%, 2,64GAA and 2 shoutouts)

Ben King played 20 games in Admirals uniform, after the Trade with the Ducks organization.
In those 20 games, King posted 3+2=5, 13PIM and +1 on 8:50 TOI/G.

Also with disappointing endings to their season, Washington, Toronto, Calgary and Edmonton missed the Stanley Cup Playoffs.

NHL Playoffs 2022-2023

NHL Playoffs favorite in odds are the New York Rangers. They won the regular season with 116points, Hurricanes were 2nd with 121points and Avalanche 3rd with 111points.

Nathan MacKinnon had most points in the league with (59G/51A) 110points. Best defenceman was Erik Karlsson (16G/58A) 74p. Best goalie was Rangers Igor Shesterkin. Rookie of the year award went to Juraj Slafkovsky with 78GP 21+32=53points.

Best odds to win NHL draft Lottery: 1st Arizona, 2nd San Jose and 3rd Winnipeg.

NHL Playoffs are well underway, Conference Finals have just begun. COL vs VGK and CAR vs BOS.
Both series went to game 7, but Vegas and Boston managed to take the W´s, and they will faceoff at the Stanley Cup Finals!

Betting sites have Vegas as small favourite. Pergeron leads the way for Boston (20GP 9+16=25points), Stephenson for the Vegas (19GP 7+11=18points)

Both goalies have played very well and have almost identical stats. Linus Ullmark 20GP 12W 5L 3OTL (91,4%/2,68GAA) and Logan Thompson 19GP 12W 6L 1OTL (91,4%/2,66GAA)

Boston have done it in 6 games, Boston Bruins are your Stanley Cup Champions in the 2022–2023 season!
Patrice Bergeron won the Conn Smythe Trophy as the MVP in the playoffs.

Jack Adams Award (to the best coach) went to M.Gervais of the Minnesota Wild.

NHL Entry Draft 2023 preview

Draft Lottery is here. Arizona Coyotes have won the 1st Overall pick in the 2023 Draft. Nashville Predators was also extremely lucky, as they jumped from 12th all the way to 2nd picking position. Ottawa went from 9th to 3rd. San Jose and Winnipeg fill rest of the top 5 picks.

In this years Draft, the top 5 is full of elite potential players. Although only 6 defenceman are projected to go in the top 20, and only one in top 10. He is Isaiah Acker (USHL) left handed D, 183cm/88kg, he sits at 3rd in Central Scouting´s mock Draft list. He has the potential to become cornestone defensive defenceman in the NHL. Top goalie prospect is Shane Faith (USHL), he is projected to go at mid to late 2nd round.

Projected top 10 via Central Scouting.

C - C.Bedard
LW/RW - T.Tollefsen
LD/RD - I.Acker
C - L.Carlsson
C/LW - A.Fantilli
RW - M.Michkov
LW - E.Sale
C - B.Yager
CW/C - Z.Benson
C - D.Dvorsky

Arizona will almost surely take Connor Bedard at 1st. After Bedard its wide open, that these players mentioned above, can go in any particular order. Teams looking for goal scoring, will have their eyes on the trio: Tollefsen, Mickov and Yager. Everybody is aware of Michkov´s deal in the KHL, but i don´t think it will make any difference for a rebuilding team.

Holding the 2nd pick of the Draft, Nashville Predators are missing top prospects in every area, except goaltending with Yaroslav Askarov. They really cannot miss here with the 2nd pick. Acker or one of Carlsson/Fantilli would be wise, considering their prospect pool including winger´s Kemell, Evangelista and Nurmi.

NHL Entry Draft 2023

Nashville defender Jeremy Lauzon (79GP 5+8=13p -15) has requested a trade. Although he played the whole season in the big club, he still thinks that he ain´t getting enough chances and ice time (13:43 TOI/game) in Nashville. He still has 3 years left at 2M per season contract. This is good spot for GM Jesse to show his skills, by getting good return on the possible trade. But this ain´t the number one priority on his list for the upcoming summer. He still needs to make teams direction clear, and negotiate new contract´s for RFA´s D D.Fabbro, F T.Jeannot, and D A.Carrier.

NHL Entry Draft 2023 is underway! This time around draft is kept in Nashville, and the host team is holding the 2nd overall pick in this years draft. Winnipeg´s 5th overall pick is rumoured to be available. Also Edmonton´s 10th overall pick could be available, to strengthen their blueline after barely missing the playoffs.

Arizona Coyotes is proud to select, from WHL Regina Pats, forward Connor Bedard!

Nashville Predators GM Jesse, is making the 2nd overall pick infront of the home crowd: ” First of all, we would like to congratulate Boston Bruins for winning the Stanley Cup. We are extremely proud to select, from USHL…. F Adam Fantilli!”
”Wow, great pick by Jesse. In Fantilli they get Center with great shot and 2-way playing style. Fantilli can also play on the wing, so he is very versatile.”

Ottawa Senators are picking 3rd, and they select F Leo Carlsson from Örebro, SHL!
”This is what scout´s were saying about this top 10, after Bedard it´s so evenly balanced, that some guys can drop and others jump alot. ” Says Bob McKenzie on TSN´s Draft Coverage.

San Jose picks Finnish forward Tuomas Tollefsen, from SHL at 4th overall.
And to finish the top 5, Winnipeg keeps the 5th overall pick themselves, and select F Eduard Sale.

Wait a second, we have trade to announce!
”Nashville Predators trade D M.Ekholm, F J.Leonard, and 2023 2nd round pick (61st overall) to Edmonton Oilers, for their 10th overall pick, in this years entry draft. Chicago, you are on the clock.” -announced by Gary Bettman.
”Wow what a blockbuster! Crowd is going wild over here. GM Jesse is clearly not scared of making big moves here on the big stage!”
”Yea clearly not, I think this trade benefits both teams. Edmonton got themselves a top pairing defenseman, and Nashville will get good prospect with the 10th pick, let´s see who they take at that spot”
-Says Bob McKenzie.

CHI 6th – D I.Acker
CBJ 7th – F B.Yager
DET 8th – F M.Michkov
BUF 9th – F Z.Benson

Now it´s time to hear from the Draft´s host team Nashville Predators GM, Jesse´s second pick of tonight, after big trade with the Edmonton Oilers.
”Nashville Predators organization, is proud to select, from the Skelleftea SHL, D Axel Sandin Pellikka.”

NHL insider Elliotte Friedman tells this about the Nashville´s 10th overall pick: ”The rumour is that Nashville were very tempted to pick Dean Metropolit from Tappara LIIGA at 10th overall. But end of the day they took Pellikka. I think they liked so much about Pellikka´s skating and offensive talent, that they just could´t pass on it.”
(Philadelphia ended up picking Metropolit with their 14th overall pick.)

Before GM Jesse made Nashville´s 3rd pick (at 44th overall) in this years draft, he announced a trade, that sent D J.Lauzon, 2024 3rd and 2023 5th round picks to New York Islanders, for their 2023 2nd round pick (47th overall). Lauzon had requested a trade out of Nashville and he got what he wanted. Jesse got good return for him, so at this point, this seems like a win-win trade.

”And with 44th overall pick, Nashville Predators, are happy to select, from HIFK Liiga, LW Jackson Courtnall.”
President David Poile announces Nashville´s 47th overall pick, ”…from the USHL, D Daniel Gibbons”
Nashville also pick´s D Fredrik Helmersson with their 76th overall pick.

Rest of Nashville´s picks:
106th pick : F Zeb Forsfjäll
108th pick: F Jesse Nurmi
140th pick: D Billy Cohen
172nd pick: F George Mendoza

And just like that, NHL Entry Draft is over. We saw multiple trades and pick swaps from teams. Biggest player moves via trade were: Ekholm->Edmonton, Zadorov->Detroit, Coleman->Dallas, Monahan->Chicago and Dadonov->Pittsburgh.

It was impressive first draft for the Nashville Predators under GM Jesse. They made 9 picks all together, most notably Fantilli at 2, and Pellikka at 10. Those will be some premium pieces for their future. GM Jesse got rid of over 9million bucks of salary, and made very clear that Nashville is heading towards rebuild, retool at least. They still have very good core in trio Forsberg, Josi and Saros, so if GM Jesse decides to do a ”quick” retool, they could be contending in couple years already.

First day of the re-sign phase is here. Nashville GM Jesse announced just couple minutes ago, that they have re-signed players F Tanner Jeannot (3x2.350) & D Dante Fabbro (1x4.175).

Couple days later they also announced the following deals:

Heading into Free Agency, Nashville let F M.McCarron and D M.Borowiecki walk, and test the Free Agency.

NHL Free Agency

Free Agent frenzy started with a bang! New Jersey Devils have signed F P.Kane to 1-year 7.725M contract. Last season they lost in the first round to NYR. They have great, young and hungry core.

New York Islanders have signed free agent F V.Tarasenko to 3-year deal, with 9.525AAV.

San Jose Shark announced that they have re-signed the biggest RFA name of the summer, Timo Meier, to 2-year contract. Deal holds AAV of 10.025M.

Columbus was also very active in the first day of Free Agency. They made deals with D R.Graves (6x5.115) and G F.Andersen (4x5.985). They are looking to get back into the Playoff action, and GM Jarmo Kekäläinen is definetily feeling that pressure from his bosses.

15/10/2023
Back to back games for Nashville. Lankinen is in the net tonight. 1st period 2-1 to Nashville. Niederreiter and Granlund scored. San Joses goal came with 5:10 left in the 1st. Last summers drafts 4th overall pick Tuomas Tollefsen scored his careers first goal.
Game ended 4-2 to Nashville, as they got their seasons first win. Mikael Granlund had 2 goals, and was games 1st star.

22/10/2023
Nashville will go against Calgary for the second time this season already. Calgary is the favorite again, as they have 5-0-0 record. The story continues, Calgary wins 2-5. Markstrom was unreal with 38/40 saves, and they continue undefeated.

1/11/2023
Nashville has had terrible start to their season. Now they lost 4-7 to Tampa. Pärssinen nets 2G + 2A on newly formed second line (Fantilli/Pärssinen/Tomasino) after Granlund went down with injury (pulled groin). Pärssinen now leader in points (9GP 4+4=8).

5/11/2023
After 6 game losing streak, Nashville finally takes a W. They defeat Caps 3-2. Forsberg new team leader in points, 10GP 0+9=9 points.

6/11/2023
Just when we were worrying about scoreless Forsberg, he nets two goals (2+1) in 5-2 victory over Rangers.

12/11/2023
In a 1-2 loss to Canucks, Nashville saw G Juuse Saros leave game in the 2nd period. Saros will be out until early February (MCL sprain). GM Jesse have recalled G Y.Askarov to the big club. He will most likely make his NHL debut soon, after starting the season in the AHL with great record of 4-0-0 .920%/1.75GAA.

Nashvilles record is 5-8-1, second to last in Central.

17/11/2023
In his NHL debut, Askarov made 28/34 saves against (8th seed in Central) Minnesota Wild (2-9-3).
Minnesota won the game 3-6. Adam Fantilli scored his 5th career goal. He now has 5+2=7points in 16 games.

29/11/2023
Finally some offense from Nashville, in a 1-6 victory over Chicago, Trenin scored 2 goals, Duchene scored once and also got one assist. Also great game by Lankinen with 27/28 saves.

1/12/2023
In a 1-3 win over Islanders, Yaroslav Askarov finally got his first NHL win. He made 21/22 saves, and were the games 2nd star. Forsberg 1st star 1+1, and Wood 3rd star 1+0.

After another loss (6-3 to BOS) and Fantilli making only 2 (1+1) points in his last 8 games. GM Jesse decided to sent him down to AHL. Milwaukee is leading Central with record of 11-4-3, good for 25 points. Markus Nurmi is leading team with 22 (7+15) points. If he continues like that, he will make his NHL debut in no time.

Nashville is 31st in the NHL. 8-15-2 =18 points in 25 games. Only Minnesota is behind them, with 15 points in 3 fewer games.

Nashville Predators Franchise Mode

2023 – 24 season part.2

NHL season is now on the halfway mark, and Nashville is sitting 31st in the league. They have only 32 points (14-23-4) in 41 games. Minnesota is the single team behind them, with 31 points.
Very few people expected Nashville to make the playoffs this season, but to be second to last is even below those expectations. This teams problem is very simple: they let too many goals in, and they ain´t scoring enough.
2.90GFPG (16th) / 3.56GAPG (32nd) 11,7% (31st) PP / 84,0% (16th) PK

Kevin Lankinen has been okay behind poor defense. Askarov has been just a shadow of himself, after good performance in the AHL last season. Saros´s injury earlied Askarovs jump to NHL, and the numbers show that it propably was too early for the ”full time” NHL role.

GM Jesses Nashville will be a seller this deadline. F N.Niederreiter contract is ending after this season, and he would be a good pick up for a team that is contending for the Lord Stanley, this post season. He has been playing on Nashvilles 2nd/3rd line. Asking price is 3rd round draft pick.
Also on the trade block is M.Wood.

11.2.2024
Toronto acquires forward M.Wood from Nashville, in exchange for forward prospect J.Drake. Toronto is making a playoff push, after they surprisingly missed them last seasons. TOR record 27-19-3

16.2.2024
Predators fire Head Coach Jaylon Mui. Assistant HC Jacques Laraque will serve as interim HC.
Current record 16-31-5. (on a 4 game losing streak)

Only week after firing Mui, Nashville GM Jesse has found his new guy. Preds sign Francisco Lacosta as the teams new Head Coach. It´s a little bit suprising move, as Lacosta has no previous experience from the NHL. Contract is rumoured to be 4 years.

21.2.2024
GM Jesse stays active, heading to Trade Deadline. Preds trade F Y.Trenin and 2025 3rd round pick to Philadelphia, in exchange for their 2025 2nd round pick. Philadelphias current record is 28-26-3.

Nashville Predators Franchise Mode

NHL Trade Deadline

Top players available: J.Eberle, A.Kopitar, I.Sorokin, A.Raanta, R.Ellis, J.Saros, B.Schenn, R.McDonagh, J.Roslovic.

Anaheim and New Jersey were among teams, which acquired top players at the deadline. Anaheim acquired F E.Kane from EDM, in exchange for D T.Lindstein. They also acquired D R.McDonagh from Nashville.
New Jersey acquired F A.Kopitar from LAK, and D R.Ellis & D R.Gudas from PHI.
At the deadline we also saw Pittsburgh acquire F J.Eberle from SEA, for 2nd round draft pick and prospect O.Stenberg.

Nashville GM Jesse also made some big trades at the deadline. All togehter traded away F N.Niederreiter (to:TBL), then D R.McDonagh (to:ANA), G K.Lankinen (to:NYR) and couple late round draft picks. And in return, he got D P.Mintyukov, 2x 2024 2nd round draft picks, 1x 2025 2nd round pick, and 1x 2024 4th round pick. At the Trade Deadline mark Nashville holds record of 20-34-6, last in the NHL.

25.3.2024
P.Mintyukov scored his 1st career NHL goal in a 4-3 SOL against Winnipeg. It was Rookies 3rd NHL game. He got a call up after defenders Josi, Gross and Mikkola went down with injuries.

14.4.2024
Nashville scores 3 goals in 3rd period, to win seasons last game 4-5 against Dallas Stars. Josi with 3 assists.

16.4.2024
Nashville finishes dead last in the NHL. Record of 28-44-10 is good for only 66 points, and now Nashville has the best odds to win the Draft lottery. After the coaching change, Nashville had record of 12-12-5, so the direction under Coach Lacosta was better.

NHL Playoffs

Heading into the 2023 -24 Stanley Cup playoffs, Toronto Maple Leafs are the favourite from the East, Colorado from the West. Toronto led the whole league in points with 108, Colorado were 2nd in Western Conference with 104 points. Toronto brought back Phil Kessel last offseason, 22+35=57 points in 82games, and also signed defender A.Goligoski (5+22=27 points) to bring some experience. They also acquired M.Wood at the trade deadline.
Colorado also bolstered their team last summer, when they signed F J.Toews (19+19=38 points) and F E.Haula (13+19=32 points).
It will also be exciting to see, how last NHL Drafts 1st overall pick Connor Bedard (25+32=57 points in 82 games) will do with Arizona Coyotes. They will faceoff against Dallas Stars in the first round.

Conference Finals are here. CGY vs VGK and CAR vs BOS.
CGY slight favourite, as well as Boston, who dropped Toronto in the second round in 7 games. Vegas won Bedards Arizona in 5 games in the second round. Bedard had 6 (2+4) points in 11 Playoff games.

We have a rematch from last seasons Finals, it will be Vegas against Boston. Last time Boston won the Stanley Cup in 6 games. Vegas will be without D A.Pietrangelo for the whole series (post concussion syndrome) and Boston will be atleast the first game without F D.Pastrnak (an abdominal strain) and D C.McAvoy (post concussion syndrome).

Vegas has won the franchises first ever Stanley Cup. Defeating Boston Bruins in 7 games. Vegas led the series 3-1 already, but Boston didn´t make this easy for Vegas. Playoff hero for Vegas was their Captain Mark Stone, who had 12G + 19A =31 points in 24 games. Also big contributors were free agent signings F E.Rodrigues and former Bruin F D.Krejci.

Nashvilles AHL team made it into the playoffs, with 80 points. (35-27-10)
Team leader in points was L.Stankoven (17+29=46 points)
They ended up losing in the 2nd round.

Johnny Gaudreau had most points in the league with (37G/63A) 100points. Best defenceman was Quinn Hughes (12G/58A) 70points. Best goalie was Bostons Linus Ullmark. Rookie of the year award went to Shane Wright with 82GP 18+39=57points.

Best odds to win NHL Draft Lottery: 1st Nashville, 2nd Minnesota and 3rd Chicago.

Philadelphia Flyers have won the Draft lottery via Floridas pick, which they got in the Claude Giroux trade. They jump from 8th to 1st overall. Philly also have their own pick at 9th overall.
San Jose jumps from 9th to 2nd, and Nashville drops two positions, 1st to 3rd.

Clear top 2 in this years entry draft is F M.Celebrini and D A.Kiviharju. Celebrini has been compared to Nicklas Backstrom, and Kiviharju to Victor Hedman. After those guys its fairly even again, and has some great defender prospects available. Best goalie prospect is HIFK (Liiga) goalie E.Vinni. He is expected to go early second round.

Projected top 10 via Central Scouting.

C/LW - M.Celebrini
LD - A.Kiviharju
LW - A.Maltby
RD - C.Irving
LD - D.Moen
LW/C - C.Eiserman
C/LW - B.Catton
