Other than Franchise Mode improvements, its largely the same game with some changes to animations and more of a focus on one-timers.

Just wait for it to go on sale and get it then if you want.

20 is superior in every way. I really love the shooting animations they put in, it feels so much more fun to play.

I’m having a lot of fun with 20. Definitely more than 19.

If you’re into Franchise mode, there’s a nice amount of additions. From 18-20 you see a lot of changes to the depth of scouting, being able to hire coaches (and assistant coaches) line chemistry, trade finder, etc.

Puck pickups and shooting fixes are two pretty significant improvements on the gameplay side.

Don’t expect a perfect game because at its core it has its flaws, and ultimately isn’t as deep of an experience as other sports games, but there’s no doubt it’s the best NHL game to date in my mind.

I enjoy it much more. However I would not pay full price for it. I found a copy on Kijiji for $50. Wait until November when it goes down to $40 around American Thanksgiving.

NHL 20 is on sale on Xbox digital for 59.99 in Canada already, less than a month out.

Population says low when I do drop ins during my ea access trial and the reviews on Xbox are mostly negative 1.9/5

So despite the price I think I may stick to 19

If it's on sale already it must've flopped hard.

Nhl 19 went on sale for $30 almost immediately that was the biggest mistake first day purchase I ever made. Worst nhl by far. Nhl 20 is actually good.

NHL 20, there is a couple of quality of life adjustments that are nice. NHL21 is going to be identical for this gen, and bare bones for next gen.

rebounds feel a lot more smooth and before 20 felt like getting those greasy goals next to the goalie were for some reason near impossibles as your guy would never seem to get possession near the goalie for some reason. You can actually pick the puck up when its near you almost 100% of the time which feels wayyy more smooth than before.

It has been the poorest selling game in the franchise in the last decade, for first weeek AND first month numbers.

Which means, that they have already tarnished their rep with previous games and it's finally catching up to them, and not enough improvements were made that people decided after the beta it wasn't worth this year.

Hopefully they understand the message... I know a lot of people that are waiting until black friday or boxing day to get it but if they wee actually making an effort maybe people would buy it earlier.

I just started playing both NHL19 and NHL20 quite recently. I mostly just play games and haven't played a whole lot with the GM mode, although I may at some point. Still, on itself, I believe that the gameplay of NHL20 makes it worth the price.

I think 20 is superior in certain details that may look like nothing at first, but end up being very noticeable during games. To me, these improvements are: the goalies (they behave like real goalies. they send pucks in corners, stay up on high shots), the skating (much more fluid), pass reception (makes the game look more fluid and is a huge step towards making it believable as a hockey simulation). I also feel that the game is more responsive than before, just plays more smoothly.
