As a Colts fan, here's my opinion; players should be allowed to bet but they absolutely should never be allowed to bet on their own team and especially when they're involved for obvious reasons. It is silly that the league has all these deals with Draft Kings and when you turn on the NFL on FOX they push their own betting plan which originated in other regions, but when a player does it, that's bad.

That said, if we later find out that Isaiah Rodgers bet on the Colts losing during the 2022 season, oh there's gonna be hell to pay.

On this week's Vegas PBS' Nevada week, they talk sports betting, oversight.

Mobile betting is on the rise and logging into app gets your physical location noted. One regulator/oversight guy talked about being able to notify 93 of the 96 registered sports books (in 37 states, plus WDC) of any nefarious/suspicious activities and get those events under control. (Nevada does not require oversight, but those sportsbooks that don't feel they have a handle on things.)

So they are able to determine if a bet is coming from a team facility, etc., which can start an investigation.

Also looks at the impact of expanding betting from just Nevada. Before Supreme Court ruling, Nevada had about $4B hand (the amount bet). It's now up to $9B. They are expecting the 2024 Super Bowl, hosted in Las Vegas, to set records for betting.
