Just read that the Q expected to return October 1st.

As there are no American clubs in the QMJHL this will be a good measuring stick on how the OHL and WHL will be able to handle safety plus minus those U.S. based clubs which will still be unknown but there travel distances are similar to OHL geopolitical spots on the map.

So we will see how things shake out and how they manage the situation.

This is a good point. If we complete next season and there's a Mem Cup in let's say July. The Q team will have two months possible to wait, unless they space their games out a little bit more during the season. Idk.

Should people celebrate????
People that have not had employment in months are happy and hopeful this will happen, not sure why you are putting a negative twist to an improvement of peoples lives? Not perfect but better than it was. You need to ask your mom if it is ok to go outside and play.

So apparently the Windsor forum migrates.... :(

As far as the two month wait for the Q and Mem Cup, there was a year the Q host team had to wait two months and they won the Memorial Cup by defeating three VERY strong League Champions. Can't make plans based on what-ifs.

Getting fans in the stands is the main issue. If they can't then the season won't last very long.

Be lots of rest for the quesbec team that wins their league. Rest up. Fix the injuries. Go from their.
Windsor had 6 plus weeks in 2017. However it was for different reasons.

We're getting to the point where the virus is no longer present in some OHL communities. Hopefully the government is proactive and allows fans in those cities at the start of the season. They can serve as a test case while places like Windsor, Oshawa, Mississauga, and Ottawa work to curb their community spread. If all goes well in the test communities then those teams can use their success as a guideline.

I suspect the Q will adjust or stretch out their schedule so that their Memorial Cup rep will have played games leading up to the tourney. I doubt we’ll see a two month wait between games.

Oshawa is at 2 active covid cases right now. And we're exactly 2 weeks into stage 3. Pretty encouraging numbers. Hopefully those low numbers can continue

IF Windsor goes into Stage 3, that's huge for some businesses. Open up safely, take every precaution possible, and take that next step towards some sense of normalcy. Windsor and the county have been really good at getting the numbers down so it's a solid step in the right direction.

oh, don’t kid yourself, the virus is still out there, waiting for us to head back inside this fall.

It's still going to be spread from other communities, but a place like the Soo hasn't had a single case in nearly a month. Others could be in the same position when the season starts.

It's fair to wonder how much better things can actually get and what negative effect managed crowds could have on such a community.

With the numbers so low, do we think that Ford will announce stage 4 this month, or do we think he keeps stage 3 to give the best chance of success when schools open in September?

I haven't seen anything about what a stage 4 entails. Everything I have seen just talks about the three stages. That said I would be surprised if anymore restrictions were lifted until at least 2 weeks after the school year starts.
